When dose the lower belly swelling usually go away ? The swelling has went down in other parts of my belly except the part right about my incision and it feels so gross.

1.5 weeks post hysterectomy: Lower belly swelling
I had my hysterectomy on July 22nd. I have the same swelling above the length of incision it bulges out. I had a flat stomach before. I'm wondering the same thing.

Re: Lower belly swelling
I have it too. This is my 3rd week post op and it just started doing it all the time the last week. Someone put on my previous post that it swells just like when you sprain an ankle or break a bone. The tissue swells and eventually goes down. I didn't think of that as an example but now I see why. When your abdomen is opened they use tools to hold your muscles open, so that probably adds to the swelling. I find that mine goes down at night.

The swelling actually does go down, just give it time. You are healing and each person heals at their own time. So remember, even if you feel good today, don't do anything that is too much like "normal" because you don't want a set back. Relax and take care of yourself. Enjoy your recovery and if you have a husband, let him do all the work for once.
