8 days post hysterectomy: Blood pressure fluctuations

I had vaginal uterus removal & 2 1/2 months ago I had bladder prolapse surgery. I've had blood pressure meds for about 6 years and had it all under control till now that I had to give up ibuprophen 800,Tylenol 1000 because it was an I teraction to bp meds. Now 8 days later I had very low blood pressure 80/50. I immediately read on the internet how to raise it with a bunch of raisins, water, water & more water, got on treatmill for 20 min & im up quite a few digits. Can it all the anesthesia I had with my 2 surgeries??? Never mind the exploding gas & cramping omg it hurts so much & it feels like I'm not digesting food for many many many hours till I finally expelled some gas & oh what a relief it is.

Re: Blood pressure fluctuations

I don't know why, I also had low bp after surgery, but mine normalized in a couple of days. They told me not to take my bp meds before surgery, so I assume that something that they were giving me wasn't going to react well with it. If you are that low, it would be a good idea to check in with whoever treats your bp.

Re: Blood pressure fluctuations

After I'd gotten off the narcotics, I noticed I was still dizzy and lightheaded. My first follow-up appointment was at 10 days, and I mentioned it to the nurse. She took my blood pressure, and it was low. She also deals with low blood pressure, and suggested to add a little sodium to my diet. It made sense that had happened, because I'd been eating fairly bland foods - namely steamed veggies - and my appetite had not yet returned. Adding the electrolytes helped.

8 days post hysterectomy: Blood pressure fluctuations

Wow I know that I've had high blood pressure that went to the roof like 191/115 &. Today super low so low that I felt dizzy. I suppose this is the reason doctors give you 6-8 weeks to recoup, your entire system gets out of wack. I just have to stay home, walk my treadmill which brought up blood pressure to normal and thank you here for your advice to eat a little salt to raise it. I also read some dark chocolate, raisins, water, the salt yes a pinch and also to breath in & out slowly to regulate it. Thank you thank you.

Re: Blood pressure fluctuations

You have some great advice from the sisters.

I'd put a call in to your doctor for thoughts also especially with any dizziness.

Please let us know how you are doing!
