Prep for surgery

I'm looking forward to a STH with cystocele probably at the end of January (Kaiser is moving s l o w l y). Can anyone make any recommendations on how I can prepare my body for the surgery so I can have a speedy recovery? TIA.

Prep for surgery

Hi Sunshine! First of all, welcome to Hystersisters

This site has a wealth of information to help you prepare for your surgery. There are many women here who will share their experience/wisdom.

I had my hysterectomy a little over 6 months ago. I consider myself to be very healthy---I eat right, exercise, etc. So going into my surgery I assumed I would bounce right back from surgery, and even optimistically scheduled a client for me to see at one week postop. Thankfully, I found this site a few weeks before my surgery, and the more I read the more I realized that I would need to give myself an adequate amount of healing time. The advice given here about recovery is accurate. There is NO WAY I could have seen that client one week after my hyst! This surgery is major surgery and no matter how healthy you are it is just going to take time to recover. It's wise to not push yourself back into your normal routine too quickly. You only have the chance to heal properly once. I did need the 6 weeks off---and then slowly started back into my work schedule. I still tired easily even after 3 months.

So my advice is keep yourself as healthy as you can with a healthy lifestyle and diet, and DO give yourself the recommended amount of time for recovery.

Hope this helps. Also, there is a lot of good info on the PullDown Menus at the bottom of the Hystersisters home page.

Best wishes to you!
