gilberts syndrome
I woke up from the operation feeling very disorientated, agitated, highly stressed, paranoid and forgetful. Yhis reaction all kicked 4 hours post op when I asked for some pain relief at 1.30 in the early hours of the morning so I could get some sleep as well and the nurse offered me two panadol! I read on the internet that a bad reaction to the anaesthetic can quickly turn worse for a patient not offewred adequate pain relief and that is what happened to me. I have got a liver condition that results in high levels of bilirubin in my blood called gilberts syndrome. Its quite common and harmless but it would make processing any drugs that much slower and harder for the body and I believe could therefore contribute to a worse reaction to any heavy medication.
Has anyone else got this condition and aware of its possible effects on their operation.
