Scared, Worried, Surgery Sept 7th (kids mentioned)

Surgery is scheduled, 11:50am, Tuesday September 7th. T-minus 6 days and counting. Had pre-op apt on Monday August 30. Doctor was great, very nice, very thorough, very to the point (no sence of humor though). Removing Uterus, Cervix, and left ovary. 90% chance he can get ovary by TVH without having to resort to a LAVH. Either way I was fine, I am fine. I want the pain to be gone, for good.

Scared surgery won't go right, scared surgery will last longer than expected, scared of recovery. I will stay over night in the hospital, scared I will have to stay longer. Last surgery I had was when I was 7 and had tubes in my ears.

Fortunate enough to be able to have children, had 4 live births and 1 still birth. My stillborn son was my last child (6-6-04). While I was pregnant, my husband had a vesectomy, not knowing anything catastrophic would happen. I developed pre-eclampsia, and lost my son at 34 weeks. (He was junior, our other children are all girls). For 6 years now, every month I have prayed his surgery reversed and I would magically become pregnant. It never happened, and now in 6 days that fairytale dream will truly be unachievable.

I believe part of my anxiety is from this, as a way I must say goodbye. I have read so much on this surgery and everyone has a different surgery experience and recovery experience, and I understand mine too will be my own experience, but still worried and scared.

Any words of encouragement would be very much appreciated.

Laurel

Re: Scared, Worried, Surgery Sept 7th (kids mentioned)

Hi Laurel! So glad you found this site. I had a LAVH August 6th.For me personally I am very thankful that I was a candidate for it instead of a TAH. My recovery has gone really well. I have 2 TINY incisions right above my pelvic bones on either side and one in my belly button. Right now they look like I just nicked myself!
It sounds like you have been through a lot. My birthday is June the 6th. I am so very sorry you had to go through that. Just know that you do have support here and women who have gone through what you have. I just want to send you prayers and best wishes for your surgery and recovery. Please keep us posted on your progress

Hugs,
Jeanie
