Responding to coworkers & their never-ending questions

Okay ladies....

I'm sure each and everyone of you works with at least 1, 2 (or maybe 3) chicks who are just plain ole' busybodies constantly involved in everyone's business and who just have to be "in the know" about everyone and everything that's going on with the staff.

I feel a hysterectomy is personal and am not comfortable sharing this with coworkers. And, since I do not have any children, I do not want to be drawn into any conversations about that.

That all being said, what are or have been some of your funny comebacks, one-liners and/or sarcastic retorts that you've told your coworkers about why you're going to be out on medical leave for 6-8 weeks?

Please humor me!!!!

Tell them you have been selected as the next "Bachelorette" and will be living in a mansion surrounded by hot men for 6 weeks!

Lol @Chloe_love we are in the same boat, no kids and I've been gone 6 weeks and I go back to work On the 19th and I definatly have nosey coworkers and I don't know what to day to them without saying what I want to say is none of your **** business! I don't feel like I should have to answer any question about the personal matter but they will be making up things if they don't already know , I wouldn't be surprised! So I don't know what to do either!

It is none of their business and you are not obligated to tell them anything. I like the humorous responses. Sorry you have to work in such an unpleasant environment.

I kept my surgery pretty quiet. For all they know, I was kidnapped by aliens for scientific experiments.

Re: Responding to coworkers & their never-ending questions

To be honest I only told a couple of people I trusted. The rest thought I was just taking some time off. It's a private and personal surgery and quite frankly nobody's business. Tell them you are taking a leave to find your old self again.

Hey Yumyum07,

Trust me, I'd love to respond by saying none of your ****** business (lol) too but I don't think that'll go over too well, lol. But the unfortunate thing is, if you don't tell them something, the rumor mill becomes fair game and before you know it, you will have had everything from a nose job to a boob job to a face lift, etc.

Re: Responding to coworkers & their never-ending questions

Lol to find my old self again that's a good one but that would be gossip too! I work in the medical field and you know that's mostly women who gossip. Maybe I'll say I was out of the country! Lol

Re: Responding to coworkers & their never-ending questions

Try this- Oh aren't you a dear to be so concerned about me! Well, I don't want to get into details at work. I mean, after all, they aren't paying us to gossip but please rest assured that it's nothing to fret about. I'll be fine and I appreciate your support.

Be sure it comes out all in one breathless rush.... bonus points if you can follow up by asking about a task that they shoulda completed last week.
