Lack of comprehension

Since my surgery 5 weeks ago, i'm having a heck of a time with comprehension. People talk to me and I dont understand whats being said to me. Its like they are speaking a foreign language to me and they expect me to understand them. I get lost trying to drive to the store, the signs dont make any sense and all seem backwards to me. I get scared when this happens and then end up having a panic attack, which makes things worse.

Is this hormonal? Left over stuff from the anesthesia?

Any ideas?

Blessings,
Judy

Re: Lack of comprehension

I admit I had brain fog due to hormones, but not as bad as that. I'm especially concerned about getting lost and signs not seeming right to you. I think you should tell all this to your Dr, maybe your PCP, and get checked out. Seems late for anesthesia issues, and I assume you've been off narcs for a while. Maybe it's hormones but I think you should be checked for other things before they decide that. I hope you feel better soon.

Re: Lack of comprehension

I had brain fog for a while, but not confusion. I agree that you should see your Dr soon. There might have been a reaction to some pain meds that can linger, or it could be more serious. If you have trouble with motor skills, see your Dr immediately, as it could be really serious.

Re: Lack of comprehension

I repeat myself repeatidly. My thoughts are scattered, but it could be lack of sleep. Are you sleeping?
