TAH sheduled for Wednesday Nov 2

HI Ladies, my TAH is scheduled for this coming Wednesday and honestly I am not worried about the actual surgery at all...I know its going to be painful and I am not going to worry myself over the little things because BELIEVE me I'm the worrying type and could really have some serious anxiety over this, my diagnosis is an extremely large fibroid that was first discovered by U/S but upon the advise of an Interventional Radiologist who was scheduled to perform my Uterine Fibroid Emolization i had an MRI. When my GYN saw the results of the MRI he called me to say he wanted to see me in his office to discuss my options. The fibroid measures a 5 month pregnancy and the MRI said it was Atypical and in the middle is something they are not sure of. If could be Leimyosarcoma so to make sure we will be doing the hysterectomy taking my cervix and only leaving my ovaries if it is not cancer. So in the big scheme of what i am facing a hysterectomy is the least of my concerns. I am hoping to spend this weekend preparing my family and home for the weeks ahead with me on the couch with the remote I'm sure I will also be glued to this site reading reading and more READING. hahha oh yeah and since I live in New Jersey watching for the impending SNOW.

I am sorry you are dealing with this, but it is important to have this checked out and taken care of. Hopefully it will not be cancer, and you can keep your ovaries.

Will there be a gyn onc also present at your surgery? It can be a good idea to have that type of doctor available if there is a chance of cancer.

It sounds like you are prepping your house hold the best way you can.

It sounds like our situations are very similar. I have one very kart "mass" as well however I have only had an US not an MRI and as the weeks progress U can feel my uterus getting larger. I am average build but my pelvic area is do large and it's getting harder to camoflodge (sp) my stomach. I am getting a dull pain in my right side as my uterus seems to be growing towards my right. I have a TAH ( vertical incision) on Nov 11th. I will be thinking of you. Keep staying positive. My OB/Gyn has cancer concerns for mine as well she told me usually fibroids are multiple not just one. My Uterus is about 24 week size. I did see an gyn/onc he will be assisting my surgery and feels 90% this is just a fibroid. I refuse to think it is anything else. You are in my thoughts and just know you are not alone. I know I think of my surgery every second of the day and it's all I talk about to my poor husband but I have not shared it with too many others. I have gone crazy with getting freezer meals ready (21 meals in the freezer!) woohoo. lol and trying to keep my sense of humor. My 12 year old son tried making me a whistle out if a straw (go figure it works) so I can call for them anytime while I am resting. How sweet. And they all know they will be on laundry duty! DVR'ing movies to watch with my boys during recovery. Trying to focus on the good moments of recovering and knowing that we can handle anything put in front of us. Good luck to both of you ladies with your upcoming surgeries. We are here for you, to support you, and to see you through this. I understand where you are - I was there just several months ago.

Prepping the house hold is a good distraction, and helps during recovery. I remember getting meals together in the freezer, buying a boat-load of frozen lunches for when I was to be alone during the day, yard work and house cleaning.
