questions having a lavh

I can't and never will be able to use HRT because of the breast cancer (it was hormone positive anotherwords living off of my estrogen). So they put me into chemical menopause and gave me a drug called effexor which is actually an antidepressant to help with the hot flashes and night sweats. I used that for about 2 years and then dr. said lets see what happens without the drug and sure enough no more hot flashes and night sweats and I have been without ever since. I think I have just been one of the lucky ones. Dr. was a little worried that they may come back after my hyst. but so far nothing. Lynn

I had my lavh on 12/18, pooped on 12/17 - major milestones. I found that urinating after the catheter was removed was made easier if I rubbed gently just above the area to help get it going. I went out to dinner 30 hours after surgery because Isaac Bruce had signed a jersery of mine and I wanted to pick it up. Although dinner was only 30 minutes and the ride 30 minutes it was too much for me.
I almost at 48 hours after getting out of surgery and I feel better than I did before going in, just different. I feel I need to support with my hands or a belly band which hospital gave me when I walk. Hardest part is finding your own way to get in and out of bed. I go pee alsmost every hour so I have down to a fine art now. I tried to go completely off pain med so I wouldnt be so tired and that was a mistake, I think I will take half a dose with advil and see if that helps. Not like there is so much to do when you are awake. I walk to the mail box every day encouraging that gas to exit. Gas x seems to help. But again, I feel so much better than I ever could have expected. Don't do to much, expect to be heavly medicated first 24 hours which is a good thing and for food to taste odd for a while. Good luck

correction pooped on 12/19, and dr. put an estrogen patch on me when I woke up, I haven't noticed any difference with or without the patch and he did a total hysterectomy, ovaries, tubes uterus, and cervix.

Yes, my doctor said I have too, she would not want me to suffer without HRT, she said we can try to go off HRT in a year, we'll see. I hope to be able to get off and be okay on my won. Not sure if that is possible!!!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I can't use HRT either due to endometrial cancer....but I've had no problems so far. No hot flashes, nothing. I am overweight and I know fat stores estrogen, so maybe that is why. But I feel terrific!!!

Are you still using the patch?? I'm not sure what kind of HRT my doctor is going to put me on, but I know she said I have to have something. Do you feel fine with it, any difference in your moods?
