Same day surgery for hysterectomy

Hello ladies..
My gyno said if no complications I can go home after recovery my head just about spinned out of control!!! Has anyone went home same day?? I want at least a 23 hour watch in the hospital... They say sometimes insurance won't cover a over nite stay how crazy is that... Let me know if anyone has any experience with this... I'm getting nervous surgery is march 4,,,

I was able to stay overnight and I am really glad I did. It was great to be in a place where I didn't have to worry about anything and my pain was under control (Plus the hospital here was top-notch, so it was a pleasant stay). I could barely walk initially and wouldn't have wanted my first steps to be walking to the car. I've heard from those who work in medical care and insurance that sometimes the insurance doesn't approve hospital stay ahead of time, but the doctor can make the call after you wake up. I'd really talk to your surgeon and share your concerns.

My LAVH on 1/27/14 was originally scheduled as a same day procedure, but I stayed for two nights: night one because the surgery started/ended late afternoon/early evening, and night two because my GYN wanted me pass gas before being discharged. So, yes, it is possible that you may be discharged the same day.

I came home the same day and had no problems at all. I even had to climb 2 sets of stairs to get to my bedroom. I was thrilled when he said I could come home if I wished. My bed, food, bathroom, tv.
