Post Hysterectomy issues?

I am 67 and had a TAH on march 17th four weeks ago. I was in hospital 3nights 4 days. First full day home I was in misery with gas and diarrhea . I researched my two antibiotics and found that one of them had diarrhea as a side effect. Stopped it and felt sooo much better next day. Dr said not to worry about stopping and to continue with just the one antibiotic. Its 4 weeks now and I still have bouts of very soft stool. Never had any constipation problems.Used GasX for a few days and it was a Godsend ! Still feeling insides tender ( swelly belly) and can only sleep on my back. I can move on to either side now but cant stay as it starts a pinching sensation inside.I take Aleve or Tylenol for pain in late afternoon or night.. I still tire very easily and feel like my 'get up and go' got up and went. I am an expert at napping ! Does anyone out there know if ,as a senior, will I need HRT so I don't grow a beard or other such joys of maturity ?

Re: Post Hysterectomy issues?

Hi LindseeSam - I am 71 and had my total hysterectomy 6 months ago. Took me 2 or 3 months to feel like I had my energy back and to not need a daily nap! I still doze off every now and then in the afternoon if I had trouble sleeping the night before, that that isn't near as often as it use to be!
My doctor has me using a vaginal cream (Estrace) twice a week. I haven't noticed any more chin hair than before. Hopefully you won't either!
Hang in there - in a couple of months hopefully you won't even realize you had the surgery except when you see your scar in the mirror!!
