Hi Dena
I know how you feel, wanting to be rid of the pads, but the discharge is normal for most women. That dark brownish discharge is old blood. Your body is cleansing itself and that is part of the healing process too. I didn't ever see any stitches, but I had yellow-colored discharge at about 5 wks that the dr said was caused by the yellow dye on the stitches that he used.

It all went away at about 7 wks for me, so in there. This to shall pass.

i had a tiny bit of spotting blood discharge from week one. Doc said i pulled a vaginal cuff stitch. Now its more brownish and just very spotty. It has no odor. Its very annoying. I hope it goes away soon. I did this to get rid of bleeding.

Discharge

Hi Ladies,
I was also discouraged with the discharge you all have been talking about because nobody told me about it. Boy oh boy was it stinky. I called my doctor and he said it was normal he also gave me a prescription for Metronidazole Vaginal Gel to use for 5 days and that really helped clear it up. Good Luck ladies it does get better.

Thanks everyone for your help in answering this. Yeah the discharge does have a little odor to it, and after I posted this morning, when I went to the bathroom, I noticed some little bitty purple specks that I suppose are stitch remnants that are dissolving, and having a little bit of a pinching feeling up in there, so I guess that is what that is. My 6 wk check up is on Jun 19th and if I am still having that discharge maybe he can give me something to help with it. I am using that Premarin Vaginal Cream right now, and will be using it till my check up and hopefully then I can quit that. He told me that was just to help heal things.

Can I ask a question? Do you only pass stitches if you had vaginal surgery? I am 5 weeks and have yet to see anything. I did have a discharge up until last week. It was watery and almost a yellow and non-stop. It was VERY sticky and had an odor. Now, thankfully, its gone! I have to have an ultra sound tomorrow for it too. Thanks!

when on when will the discharge end???

Jacquie1964,
I passed stitches and I didn't have a vaginal hysterectomy. My doctor told me it was from the vaginal cuff they did when they took out my cervix. The stitches just didn't dissolve all the way and they just came out. It's common to see them.

I don't have a vaginal cuff, I kept my cervix.

I had to be cut open to stop a bleeder and have hundreds of stitches internally.

Should I still be seeing them? And at 5 weeks? Or is that late for them?

Does this mean I am not healing well???
