My husband just doesn't get it!

This is about you, not him. Focus on you. My half just says that all will be fine and I will be better. I think they mean well. They just don't get how scary this all can be. So just think of yourself and go at your own pace. You can figure the rest out as it goes. He just might come around after he sees how you feel after surgery. Bless you!

Husband doesn't get it

Jewelleeanna
Hi. I am new here so I am not sure how much help I can be but I have found a wealth of info on this site. Go into the Hysterectomy Checkpoints and print them out. Ask him to read them. In fact I have printed a ton of stuff and either my husband reads it or I read it to him...even if he only gets bits and pieces it seems to help. I also found another spot on this site that was just for husbands...can't think what it was called but possibly someone who has been here awhile can help. Also is he going to hospital with you? Will he be the one doc talks to after surgery?? Talk to doc, explain what is going on, ask her (or him) to explain a few things to your husband after surgery. In the meantime I will keep you in my prayers (hubby too)

My husband just doesn't get it!

My DH seems okay but hasn't said too much. When I first told him he seemed shocked and maybe even annoyed and has joked once about wanting another kid for Christmas (we are DEFINATELY done with kids even without the impending surgery!). When I talk about getting ready he just kinda half-answers.

My husband just doesn't get it!

I have learned that men deal with things so differently. I think deep down they are just as scared and worried as we are but they just wont show it. Sometimes I think my boyfriend just doesnt listen to me but then out of the blue he will ask a question so I know he has been listening. They are so used to us being the one who keeps the family together, I think they are truly scared. I know it is frustrating for us women but like others have said this is about us.

My husband just doesn't get it!

Yep...got me one of those too. Some days he is totally supportive and others, well he thinks I will be up and running. I think it scares him a bit as I pretty much take care of everything that doesn't include HIS job and he pretty much only takes care of his job lol. Some days I think my dogs are going to be more sympathetic lol. I just keep telling myself (since my meltdown) that this will be over soon and life will go on...be strong. And that is what I am going to do
