LIW - Pamper yourself !!

You have all been so supportive I had to write -- These past few weeks were really hard on me, besides being so scared with the TAH, we had a death in the family and my mood swings were driving everyone crazy.

Had a wonderful surprise yesterday - my daughter took me for a spa day. We had manicures, pedicures, and facials along with a hand, arm and foot massage and the parafin treatments were absolutely wonderful.

Just a couple of hours made be feel unbelievably calm. I strongly suggest that each of you spend the time pampering yourself. I'm still nervous but I can't explain what this did for me.

Pamper yourself - you deserve it !!!!

LIW - Pamper yourself !!

Hi, Fellow April 15th-er!

I've been thinking about getting a pedicure since it may be a while before I can reach my feet. But I'm a little shy about having someone work on my stinky old feet! And also, does anyone know about how much it costs?

Pampering yourself is a great way to relax and get ready for surgery, BUT some hospitals don't allow nail polish when you have surgery. It can make it hard for the oxygen monitor thingy they put on your finger to read the oxygen level. And even though a nurse or anesthesiologist checking your nailbeds to gauge your condition is old tech, it can give them a few extra seconds just in case.

So before polishing those nails make sure it's allowed.

Pre-Op Pampering is Wonderful

I had a massage and a facial before my surgery, within a couple of days in fact. I cannot tell you how much better I felt. I was so jittery, felt like I was losing my mind. It calmed me so much and left me feeling refreshed instead of the mad nesting rush I had been in. I think it was also the reason I slept like a baby the night before instead of worrying about it so much. I would suggest a massage and/or facial before surgery if you can do it. I have a gift certificate from my DH for a manicure and pedicure that he gave to me earlier that I plan on using before returning to work.

The costs will range widely depending on where you are and what you would like done. The average massage around here is about $50 and the facial was $35. Just do some checking and if you can pull together some money, it is well worth it.

Good luck to all the LIW's!
