I am just MAD tonight

I am feeling angry that at the age of 28 I am going through this.
The past couple of years have been a blur. I feel like my life has been taken away by pain. I am glad I had the hysterectomy, but I am mad that I had to do it. I went through 6 mo. of Lupron shots, hormones, you name it, to try to avoid having surgery. My Endo won! My husband and family try to listen and be understanding, but they think now that I am 2 weeks post op I should be feeling great.
I guess I am just sick of explaining to everyone how I feel.
I just want somebody to really understand.
Sorry for the pity party.

Re: I am just MAD tonight

Big hugs for you! It's okay to vent...I don't think I would call you having "a pity party". This is hard to go through physically and emotionally. People that aren't going through it...just don't fully understand. I am 1 week post op and have found recovery to be a slow painful process. Although I don't regret the surgery at all. Hang in there and know you are not alone. Know that others(like myself)..get mad and frustrated too..to the point of wanting to scream!
Hugs sister!

Re: I am just MAD tonight

Hi there! We had surgery on the same day. LAVH and right ovary removed. I am 37 and feel the same as you - too young to go through this but glad I did. I've had a history of ovarian cysts with every complication imaginable since I was 11 years old, as well as being diagnosed with endometriosis in my early 20's. My last flare-up started Memorial Day weekend and lasted up to my surgery date with two visits to the ER during that time. I tried various treatments too, but they only seemed to help short-term, then it would come back with a vengeance. I had my 2-week post-op check up today and the doctor said I had adenomyosis, which was the cause of my constant pain. He also said it was a good thing that my uterus was removed because it would only get worse over time. I am also experiencing the same from my family and friends. They expected me to be "normal" by now. It's so frustrating. I felt better when my doctor said my healing process is on track and that it will take another 4-6 weeks to recover. He reminded me that I have had major surgery and to be patient. He also said to just listen to my body, get plenty of rest, drink lots of water, and walk. Don't let people upset you - only you know how you feel and you only get one chance to heal. Good luck with your recovery and hang in there!

Re: I am just MAD tonight

It really does help to see that others are going through this. Although, I do not wish this on anybody. I just want my friends and family to understand what I have been through.
I am just so ready to put all of this behind me. I am sure you all feel the same.

Re: I am just MAD tonight

Hi there, I'm 32 and I had my hysterectomy this week. I get your frustration and anger and I too feel like I've lost years if my life due to pain. I have a few friends who are questioning me on why I'm not feeling better and I am going on 4 dpo. I try myself to explain it but nobody gets it. I'm thankful my husband does however. I just want you to know you are far from alone. Best wishes!

Re: I am just MAD tonight

At 2 weeks post op it is normal to still feel bad. I didn't start feeling good until about week 5 and I have slight bleeding that I stressed out about until week 7. Today is week 8 and I still have my moments. Just remember, this was a major surgery and it takes a while to heal. You will start feeling better with time. I too had severe Endo and I can already tell how much better I feel now that I am on the mend. Good luck to you.

Re: I am just MAD tonight

I was very angry too and sometimes I still am. I feel like I've failed myself somehow. In the few days post op I found myself depressed and crying over it. I think it will get better for you. It has for me.
