Some do, some don't. Some even lose. It probably depends on hormone balance, lifestyle and exercise.

If you take good care of yourself and try to keep your hormones in balance, I bet you'll not have problems with weight gain. Just my opinion from all that I've read.

Take care!

I lost weight, but my jeans still are tight across my stomach. If your having abdominal surgery you get swelling on your stomach for awhile. You might want to do a search on here about swelly belly, that would help explain it more.
I agree with newbody on living a healthy lifestyle, that always help. I am not sure what happens with hormones and weight gain, I was able to keep my ovaries.
Good luck!!

My weight is exactly the same today as it was before my hysterectomy. Didn't lose, but at least I didn't gain any, either.

I lost weight...but I had numerous fibroids and a uterus that weighed over 3000 grams! I never did get swelly belly. Sometimes the area around my incision gets a little swollen if I over do it. I drank tons of water in the hospital, and have continued to drink tons since I've been home. It's been 4 weeks since my surgery and I would guess I'm down close to 2 sizes! I can't wait to start excersising again...to make sure it stays off!

I lost weight and didn't gain any until I began ERT, which was more than a year later.
