Actually, this makes sense. Many ladies find that as their activity level increases, so does the spotting and bleeding. Sometimes it is the body's way of saying, "Hey, you are overdoing it a bit." Other times it is simply that the newly healed and healing tissues are tender and will bleed more easily as they continue to heal.

As mentioned above, granulation could also be the culprit.

Stay in touch with your doctor about any bleeding and ask if you should continue to be mobile as long as you are not having bright red bleeding that soaks a pad an hour, or if you should be laying down any time you have spotting. Your doctor should be able advise you as to which is best for you!

Re: Bleeding more at week 3 post op - normal?

Ladies, thank you so much for all your words of wisdom!
I'm just beginning week 4 and it's gotten back down to light spotting. As soon as I do anything a little more active, it picks up a little, but does seem to be getting better.
Very encouraging.
I'm looking at it this way - at least I'm depleting my supply of panty liners!

Re: Bleeding more at week 3 post op - normal?

I'm glad to find this thread. I am 2 1/2 weeks post op (davinci) and have not had any vaginal bleeding until today. It started very slow and then gradually got to be more. It is brownish in color. I was on my feet earlier this evening as my mom took me to the grocery store (and she pushed my cart around then unloaded my groceries). I was just so tired about half way through the store! I wonder if that is what caused the bleeding or is it the stitches. I guess I will call the dr tomorrow. Thanks for posting your experiences though...because it does help alleviate some fears. Of course, I always think the worst!

Mine started at week 2 and stayed light to moderate - enough for me to see the doctor. I started feeling pretty good then really pushed it more and think that's why I started bleeding. I'm glad I saw the doc - she had encouraged me this can happen - but it's also why I posted this thread to find out just what is "normal"?
Good luck to you!

Re: Bleeding more at week 3 post op - normal?

I know how frustrated you must be. I felt the same. I had a TAH on July 19th and bled non-stop through week 6. As your doctor said, my doctor said it was normal (I was just one of the small percentage of women who have more bleeding post op). I also did a lot of research because it seemed like it should have stopped but other sites confirmed that it is "normal". It does stop and that's something to look forward to.

Unfortunately, I'm now dealing with yellowish vaginal discharge after the bleeding stopped.I just returned to work this past week (after Labor Day) and it seems to have increased with activity... I'm now using a panty liner instead of a pad. Has anyone dealt with that?

Re: Bleeding more at week 3 post op - normal?

Wow, I was really getting scared. I was thinking ok, no more uterus, no more bleeding. I also, went to the emergency room when I saw my bleeding. I was told everything was healing correctly. I work for the physican who performed my surgery, soI called himto let him know that I was thereand the two physicans exchanged information. I too did not want to keep calling my doctor, but he is really good at easing my mind when I freak out.
