TLH: DVTs/PEs due to large fibroid? Anyone on blood thinners? Did it affect your hysterectomy recovery?

Hi there, I saw an old post from CrochetDiva from 2011, and a response from beagle lover 13. Both mentioned DVTs/PEs due to fibroids. I am so happy to find your posts! I am 47 and about to have hysterectomy surgery in June. I have multiple fibroids, one of which was almost 10cm and grew rapidly over a short period of time. I had DVT/PEs in February this year. Unsure why, all tests show no genetic causes and I had no surgeries, injuries or long trips. My GYN says it may have been the fibroid. I am so terrified and wanted to reach out to both of you since you have gone through this. Were they ever able to confirm the causes of your DVTs/PEs? Also since you are or were on blood thinners for your surgeries, did you have any issues post op due to them? I don't wish this on anyone but I do find some comfort that others with this issue have successfully undergone surgery. Thank you so much for posting on this site!

I do not think either of those ladies are still active. From my search, CrochetDiva has not been on the site since 2009, and I could not find the user 'beagle lover 13'

We do have lots of ladies on this site, so hopefully one with similar experience to you will see your post and respond.

Hi, I haven't had any Dvts or Pe's but I do have Factor V Leiden which means I am a clotter. Because of this I'll have to give myself Lovenox shots twice a day 5 days before my TAH surgery. I too have a fibroid which is 12cm. I've had other surgeries with no issues afterwards so hopefully praying all will be good with this one. Glad you're on this site, great for support. You're surgeon will take care of you and make sure you are prepared for surgery so try not to worry. It is scary to have to deal with blood clotting issues but you aren't alone. ;0)
