I think I have reached a turning point.....
I am 17 days post op and i think I have reached a turning point over the last few days. Still on Friday(14 days post op) I was taking my vicoden or percocet every 6-7 hours or so and getting frustrated by that. Well just over the last couple days, I have been able to space them out and now I haven't had one in 13 hours! I have taken some motrin today though.
I drove for the first time yesterday and today took a longer drive to the feedmill for horse grain(didn't lift it), to the store to get some magazines and fruit, to the drugstore to get soem scare cream, and to Dairy Queen for a Moolatta!(YUMMMMM!). I got home, did the dishes, put the groceries away, took the dogs out, and started the laundry and I STILL don't feel too bad! I AM still wearing my abdominal binder on, I just feel SO much better with it on, but have been trying to wean from it.
I just wanted to post something positive and give some of you having problems some hope that it DOES get better! Thanks for listening. Tiffany

Hey Tiffsue,
I'm so looking forward to being where you are. Thanks for the positive post. I'm 4 weeks post-op and still have no energy, still favoring my belly. Just not myself yet. Thanks again.

I don't know what it is about those Moolattes, but I like them better than Starbucks!!!!!! They are scrumptious. What a great treat, and I'm so glad you're starting to feel better.
I too felt much better at about day 21 post-op.... keep the healing going!

I think I have reached a turning point.....
Hi Tiffsue,
You're evidently doing better than me!! That's great! I had my TAH on May 18th. Saturday my daughter took me to the Outlet mall for a little while, then to eat. I walked slow but it wasn't too bad until I got home. That is when I can tell if I've overdone it or not. I had to put an ice pack on my stomach because it is just still sooo tender. Yesterday, we took our puppies to see their mother who belongs to my mother. We let them play and then my daughter's boyfriend brought them home so we could stop by Wal-Mart. When I got home, they were going to go play golf so I offered to do the chili for chili burgers for supper. When they got back I was pooped as could be. Two days in a row, too much! I am able to take advil during the day and save my other pain med until night, which I've definately needed the past 2 nights.
Today, I haven't done much of anything, sat out in the sun and that drained me. If I sleep good I seem to have a better day, when I don't I can't do as much the next day. This staying in the house all the time is boring!!! If I could do some of the cleaning and cleaning out I need to do would be great. I sit and think about it. My husband travels and didn't get to come home this weekend. He will be home tomorrow night and I will be so glad.
I wanted to ask you about your abdominal binder, does that not bother your stomach at all? I still only want to wear gowns that hang down so that nothing touches my stomach. I cannot stand underwear anymore. When I have to go out, as soon as I get home I take them off. Of course I am still very bruised on the outside, so maybe my inside is worse. I had a bikini cut but it hurts all around the belly button area and last night I bent over to lean on the counter and I thought I felt something tear right in that area. It was a piercing feeling. I immediately went to sit down and all night it was very sore there and kind of twingy feeling at times. When I take a shower it hurts for the water to hit my stomach I have to cup my hand and let it roll down it.
Glad you're doing so good! I sure hope my turning point is soon!

I think I have reached a turning point.....
I reached the 1 month mark yesterday. My friend and I went and got our nails done this morning and as I was sitting in the chair I realized that my belly did not hurt. Yippee! What a wonderful feeling. I was taking pain meds for 2 1/2 weeks and I had trouble getting comfortable to sleep. Saturday we went to a fundraiser and I was walking slow and I hurt when we got home. I just hope that it stays this way. DH is afraid I will over do it now and be all achy again. What a sweetie. Hang in ther girls it will get better.

chay chay, no my abdominal binder does not hurt my stomache. It has a soft area where it goes accross my stomache. Oh it feels so good to have it on, like my stomache and insides are so supported. It sounds like you have a more tender belly than me though. Deep inside is where I hurt, not surface area. You will reach your turning point soon! It is different for everyone! Good luck, Tiffany
