pain after intercourse

11 weeks ago I had a LAH ,I still have my ovaries,and cervix.This is my concern,after my husband and I have intercouse I have pain and discomfort in my pelvic area this last for 24 hours.I went back to my gyn,had a pelvic ultrasound done and it came back as being normal now I have to have a ct scan to check other things.Has any one gone through this? I'm very discouraged ...I don't look forward to having intercourse because of this...heat and tylenol do relieve the pain.

My pain was during intercourse. We waited 8 weeks but I am going to wait longer for the second time. Dr gave me the okay but I am waiting until 12 weeks, at least!! Hubby is not too happy. :-(

tried it this morning for the first time at 8 weeks and had pain and it felt like someone put red hot coals in my vagina. I talked with my late this afternoon and he said that my vagina was not completely healed. Apparently there was a great deal of trauma to my vagina. I had a LATVH with everything removed and it should have been a TAH due to the fact that I could not have my boys that way due to be way too small and had to have c-sections. You think he would have remembered that. Anyway it looks like it will be 2-3 weeks before we can try again. Also the right side of my vagina is totally numb. On the plus side I guess, I did not have any bleeding. SO I know your pain. Hang in there hopefully it will get better.

It is very discouraging when you experience pain when returning to intercourse. Sorry to hear it is happening to you.

Even at 11 weeks you are still in early recovery, full recovery is 6 months to a year so things are still healing.

I don't know if your encounter was slow and easy or if you were trying to return to your pre-surgery level of activity. Without your uterus there is less padding for your intestines and getting too vigorous can cause some pain until everything settles down.

You may need to try some new positions so you can control things more.

Hi Obie - I had the same exact experience for a really long time after we started to have sex again at 8 weeks post op. It hurt some during but afterwards, oh my gosh I would ache and hurt for hours. I never did go to the doctor to make sure there wasn't anything wrong, but I really worried. It was like that for quite a while, but eventually it did get better. Now, at almost six months post op, it doesn't hurt anymore during and that achiness and pain afterwards is gone too. I think it just takes a really long time for some internal cuffs to heal completely. I hope that your tests don't show anything serious and you begin to feel better soon. At 11 weeks I'm sure your body still has lots of healing to do, for me it's taken a long time. Best of luck to you!

thank you so much for all your replies!! Now that I know that this has happened to others I don''t feel so alone.Now should I continue with all these tests my gyn wants to put me through ?

We can't tell you what to do about the tests, we're not Drs so don't know why he / shee wants to the tests.

Talk through everything with your Dr. maybe there is another reason why they are being recommended.

Just recieved a call from the nurse at my gyn office and they found I have a vaginal infection!! This could be the cause of all my pain...Still have to go through with th ct scan...
