DaVincci... What have I done??? LONG & Whiny! (UPDATE)

Help please! All I see are the "I feel fantastic!" And "I feel wonderful!". Most of the posts say that they are up and walking around same day, with little to know pain! Ummm, that is so NOT me! I am in terrible pain! I am wondering if I even made the right choice. I can't eat. It hurts so bad to pee.
I can't sleep. They have me have me on dilaudid then morphine f/ break through pain & toradol. Also nausea meds. Gave ativan to help sleep last night - didn't work. Oh, they took my uterus, cervixn left ovaries & had to leave some endo behind because it was too close to my uretur(sp?). Are
THERE ANY SISTERS who have had a similar experience? Am I out of my mind? I know I have a low threshhold to pain & metabolize meds faster than average (genetic). I am so worried about going home & not be able to control the pain. Oh man. I sound like the biggest crybaby whiner in the
WHOLE WIDE WORLD! Thank you so very much for letting me vent!

Re: DaVincci... What have I done??? LONG & Whiny! :( Sorry!

I'm so sorry that you are not feeling better. When was your hyst? your date shows today . Are you in tampa? If so where did you have your Davinci?

Feel better and don't try to measure your pain vs anyone else's. You are feeling pain and it needs to be managed. Make sure they are taking care of you!

You could be experiencing more pain than others because you had a more involved surgery. Like WendyRenee said everyone's pain is different, and pain is tolerated differently as well. Try to keep the pain under control. Rest and relax. The pain should subside in a while. I am sorry that you are having to go through this now. Best wishes and let us know how you are doing.

Re: DaVincci... What have I done??? LONG & Whiny! :( Sorry!

Oh no...you are soooo NOT alone in this. I had the Davinci Hysterectomy too. Uterus and Cervix removed. Bladder had to be removed off of uterus due to adhesions. My first 48 hours were pure h***!!!!!!! I had surgery on a Wednesday around noon and didn't go home until the next evening...thursday around dinner time. I almost stayed another night...and probably should of because when I got home the pain was soooo out of control and I was crying uncontrollably, and per Dr's suggestion we almost ended up going to the ER. I had a rough time peeing too. (I'd go every two-three minutes, and hardly any would come out...so I had this constant feeling that I had to go...) I couldn't pass gas for the life of me, and that is where my most severe pain was from...the pressure from my bowels swirling with gas..up against my internal incision pain was so unbarable. Like labor pains. (i remember it like it was yesterday) Anyway...besides that I had retained 10 lbs of IV fluid in my skin and had bad reaction to the pain pills I went home with. Thru several phone calls Thursday night and after trying everything under the sun to pass gas...finally a suppository released some of the gas pressure for me, which helped ease the pain. My bladder began to function better each time my bowels released more gas (wierd I know..). And finally by Friday night I feel like my post op experience was starting to settle into a more normal post op pain level and experience. By the weekend I was MUCh better. I hope the hardest part will soon be behind you. I think some of us have bodies that react more to anesthesia...and it takes longer for our systems to "wake up" so to speak. I just had my two week post op and am doing really well. I bet you will too....hang in there, really...you are not alone in this experience.

DaVincci... What have I done??? LONG & Whiny! (UPDATE)

I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. I had a robotic hysterectomy 2 days ago, but I got to come home that evening. I'm hurting pretty bad, too. And I have a high tolerance to pain as well as to pain meds. I'm taking 2 Percocet every 3 hrs and 800 mg Ibuprofen and it's not touching it. But I have been up and walking. I'm taking Xanax at night to sleep but I can't get comfortable to sleep more than an hour at a time. I had everything taken out as well due to endometriosis. I feel for you. I promise it will ease up. Cramping is normal. I'm wondering if the bad gas pains are normal. Hang in there. It will get better. At least that's what I keep telling myself!

Re: DaVincci... What have I done??? LONG & Whiny! :( Sorry!

Yes....the gas pain is normal and the swelling is too. I now understand why my doc warned me to have loose clothing available. He wasn't kidding! I am 4 weeks out, today and am doing quite well but still cannot wear jeans---at least not comfortably.
GasX helped me get rid of some of the gas those first few days.
Wishing you all good healing!
Hang in there!

Re: DaVincci... What have I done??? LONG & Whiny! :( Sorry!

Nope not so easy!

My time in the hospital was horrible. Massive pain and nausea. That was on the pain meds. I also was throwing up alot too. Not to good after getting stitches. My surgery was at 7:30 am and it wasnt til 10pm that night they began to find the right meds. and get things under control. Then and now I am dealing with high blood pressure. Was doing great post op til yesterday (1 wk post op) and now massive pain again. And Highly emotional. So no it not all a peice of cake

Glad you are on this site though. Lots of support and great advice. Hang in there and vent when you need too

Re: DaVincci... What have I done??? LONG & Whiny! :( Sorry!

sorry to hear about the bad experience with da vinci. I am just the opposite, I think it was the best thing for me. I had Radical abdominal da vinci hysterectomy with bilateral total pelvic lymphadenectomy and para-aortic lymph node sampling, with removal of tubes and removal of ovaries. I had morphine for pain the first day then percocet the rest of the week. I was walking and getting around really good after the first day. I have a high tolerance for pain. I had 60% of my liver removed in November last year and that was really hard and painful so this hysterectomy was easy compaired to that. Try the gas x for the pain in the belly because that is probably what is hurting the most. Take fiber, and stool softeners because pain meds will stop you up!!!! God helped me stay calm and was there for support. Prayer is powerful, so talk to the Lord. God Bless.
