Bleeding question

Hi all. Tomorrow will be two weeks since my TAH-BSO surgery. My dr. told me to expect some bleeding in about two weeks and sure enough it started today. My question is, how heavy does the bleeding get? I mean, do I need a regular pad like for a peirod or will it be light enough for just a panty liner? Any info would be appreciated, because I thought that once they did this surgery all bleeding would be over and since I had my pd. right before surgery I didn't bother to go out and get any pads, so just have the ones from the hosp.

Bleeding question

I had some bleeding (due to over doing it) and heavy drainage (due to the stitches dissolving) between the 2-3 week mark. I used a pad for both. It wouldn't hurt to have some pads on hand.

Bleeding question

Sorry, my post is wrong. It should have said dr. said to expect some bleeding. Should have had that second cup of coffee before I started typing (lol). Thanks for your reply. Will be going to store to pick up some things that I thought I wouldn't need.

Bleeding question

My experience was as this. I bled very light for 2 days after my surgery. It then stopped for 4 days and began again. I called and doc said it was normal as long as there are not clot and heavey bright red blood. My blood was light pinkish to light red at times. I only had to use one panty liner per day it was that little..I wouldn't of had to change it then either, but did for sanitary reasons. This went on until last week (3 wks post-op). By the 3rd week it had become a yellow type of color with some brown..but more yellow, then it completely stopped the beginning of this week, my 4th week. I do still have a tiny bit of yellow here and there, but today am finally pad free..yippie..man I was getting sore no air getting there.

So that is my experience. I wish you luck.

Bleeding question

This is good to know. Something my doc never covered. I've been spotting lightly since the surgery and use a panty liner for it. Nice to know more is coming when the stitches start to dissolve. That would have been a scare to not know. Thank goodness for this informative site!

Bleeding question

Thanks all for your answers. I too am grateful for this website as it does answer lots of questions, but also there to ask some of your own. I just wish doctors would be a little more informative when they tell you some things. I mean he said to expect some bleeding, but not how much or how long. I know everyone is different, but just wish they could give you a ballpark sometimes. I'm finding this healing process very, very frustrating that I could just scream sometimes, but I'm hanging in there. Hugs to all.
