17 wks post op feeling very low

Hi Everyone,

After weeks of worrying my operation went well and I felt so much better when it was over. My recovery went well and I returned to work after 10 weeks.

In the past couple of weeks I feel extremely down and have no friends to talk to. My sexual desire is not existant and my husband has taken to downloading pornography which has made me feel even worse.

work is extremely stressful and I am not coping with my workloads nor my work colleagues.

I am taking HRT but still has become blotchy and I see an old lady looking back at me in the mirror.

I have spoken to my DR who has offered no advice whatsoever apart from try a new type of HRT.

Does anyone else feel the same? Will things get better?

Re: 17 wks post op feeling very low

Hi. I can identify with some of the same things you are talking about. It will be six weeks on Monday. I know my hubby is ready to have sex, and so am I but I am scared. My husband is worried that the cancer will come back and that is always in the back of my mind. Even though they took everything out. My hubby watches porn, and it bugs me at times, but other times it doesn't phase me. I am anticipating going back to work in two weeks. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, I will be off for the summer. I teach. I am having issues at work, accusations of being a racist. But I have been at my career for 21 yrs. and know it is all false, just don't like my boss. I call her toxic. I am 54 and wish I could retire. Anyway, thanks for listening. Debbie

Re: 17 wks post op feeling very low

What a co-incidence I also work in a school. After having 10 weeks off I have found it very strange returning to work and in fact didn't realise what a stressful job I have until I went back! I guess its not just the stress of having the operation its the recovery, home life and going back to work which is really difficult. My friends have not had the operation so they don't really know what I am going through and therefore I don't see them anymore. So it can be quite lonely. I guess things can only get better!
