had tah yesterday questions

Had surgery yesterday and feel pretty good. Lost the catheter this morning and was able to pee without issue, yeah worried about that. I am having some burning sensation along the incision and when I peed there was some fresh blood, not a lot but some. Is this normal? How soon post op can I expect gas? I have lots but can't seem to get rid of it.

Good Morning! Welcome to the other side!! I had a TAH 2/18 I still experience burning and complete numbness in locations from belly button to pubic bone. My doctor told me this is normal and may last a very long time as all the nerves were severed. The gas....OYE the gas, it took me until the third day in the late afternoon to actually pass some and man did it hurt! Ask them for something at the hospital if you are still there to help. I have never had any kind of spotting or blood of any kind since say one, so no personal experience, but from everything I have read spotting can be a rainbow of colors and is normal as long as you are not experiencing 'new' pain with it. Sounds like you are doing well!

Welcome. TAH 3/19. Sounds like you are doing great. Lots of funny pains everywhere. Get used to it especially when they switch you from pain pump to pills. Some of my places are still numb. It all moves along slowly, Just let yourself heal and take stool softeners and gas tabs. You will feel different things everyday, Hang in there and enjoy the down time.

Thanks I am doing really well I think. Have little pain except when I get up or try to lie on my right side. Can't do that yet but was able to sleep on my left. Yeah!
