48 hrs post op bowel pain. Common?

Hi, it's only day 2 after a Robotic Lap Sub Cerv Hyst. The incision soreness is tolerable and makes sense but i am confused by the intense bowel sounds and pain. Gas is hard to pass. Just watery BM upon waking. Eating slowly. Bowel cramps feel like menstrual cramps but impossible now.

Is anyone else going through this please? Docs never mentioned it. And does anyone else feel slightly nauseous please?

Thanks. This is my first post. Have been reading lots of posts for months.

Good luck to everyone. I wish you all speed healing.

Re: 48 hrs post op bowel pain. Common?

Had my TAH/BSO on 3 August and yes the bowel /gas pains were worse then the incision pain - especially at night. Doc has me on Gas X 4 times a day stool softners and suppositories twice a day and I finally had a good BM 5 days post op and felt much better - a little gassy again today but I think that I over did the food since I was feeling better - need to stick to bland easier to digest foods.
It does get better.....one day at a time!

Re: 48 hrs post op bowel pain. Common?

I had the same, supra cervical hyst uterus only via DaVinci. I am about 52 hours post op right now. Gas pain had been unbearable until this morning. I had two very good watery gas passes early this morning. The gas pain has been less since. I spent most of last night with a heating pad on my belly and have been drinking a lot of water and walking as much as possible. Laying on my left side seems to help as well. Thankfully no nausea. Am taking a stool softener with every meal as suggested by everyone on here. Hope you start feeling better!

Re: 48 hrs post op bowel pain. Common?

You just described my midmorning/afternoon.

The bowels reactivated today and the swelling increased and the pain increased again. Even ran a slight fever
(99.5). Enough to make me go to bed for a while.

I have avoided narcotics because of the constipation issue and I hate the way they make me feel. It has been motrin and aleve for me.
I had a Supracervical Lap as well, and the incision pain is nothing. But the bowel pains today were just like when I had my periods and had bowel movements. I was scared, thinking that maybe I made a huge mistake, but I will take it one day at a time.

Oh my goodness, I'm with ya on the gas business! I'm 4 days post op and gas pain has been terrible. I'm also taking gas X, drinking tons, eating carefully and walking.... Have passed some, but just comes back with a vengence. Would give anything for some relief!
