TLH: Bleeding at time of hysterectomy surgery.

My hysterectomy will be in 7 days time on the 28 April. I've just started bleeding and know I will still be bleeding on the 28th. Will my surgery still go ahead. Does it matter that I have my period on the day and should I let my Dr know?

I've been bleeding heavily and continuously since early February and there is not much doubt I'll still be bleeding for my May 14th surgery. I think it's pretty common to be bleeding for this surgery. If it is causing you anxiety though, call your dr., just to put your mind at ease. Best wishes!

There should not be a problem proceeding with the surgery. A lot of women get hysterectomies because they can't stop bleeding. I was told it wouldn't matter if I was bleeding they would still do the surgery.

I am bleeding as well and have my surgery this Wednesday, April 23. My doctor said it would not be problem and that I would go in bleeding but would come out not bleeding and never having to deal with the problems again.

I went into surgery bleeding. I would your doc to check but it shouldnt be a problem. There was no way to plan around my sporadic periods that came multiple times a month with only a few days between.
