Hi Stylib,
Here are a few of my favorites:

Rom.8:32"He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?"

1Pet.2:24....by whose stripes ye were healed.

Mt.21:21 "And all things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive"

Ps.103:3""Who forgiveth all thy iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases."

2Tim.1:7"For God hath not given us the sprit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

Jn.14:27"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

I had my dh read the 23rd Psalms and I hope that helped him pass the time while I was in surgery. I know it helped me to go through with it.

Stylib, you have been given wonderful Bible verses and
Cyd's comforting poem. I found some others that may
help.
Remember the parable about the women who had
been bleeding for 12 years and then she touched Jesus's
garment and was healed? That is Mark 5:25-34
Mark 5:34 And He said to her, "Daughter, your faith
has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your
affliction."
Isaiah 43: 2 When you go through deep waters
and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through
rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through
the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up- The flames
will not consume you.
Jeremiah 30:17 "I will restore you to health and heal
your wounds," declares the Lord.
Psalm 30: 2 O Lord my God, I called to you for help
and you healed me.
1 John 5:14-15 Now this is the confidence that
we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His
will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever
we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we
have asked of Him.
Isaiah 40:29 He gives strength to the weary and
increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired
and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who
hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar
on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not faint.
Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be
strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be
discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever
you go."
Deuteronomy 31:8 The Lord himself goes before
you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor
forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
There is a great prayer at the top of this
board for those sisters facing surgery. I hope this helps.

What a great idea for a thread!

Here are the two I really relied on before my surgery:

Romans 8:28 -- We know that all things work for good for those who love God and are called according to his purpose

Isaiah 26:3 -- He will keep in perfect peace all those who trust in him

Perfect peace -- isn't that just what we all need during tough times!!!!

Also, I would just like to share that a good friend encouraged me after my diagnosis of cervical cancer by assuring me that God's plan for me is the same now that it was the day I was born -- how comforting to know that even though my life has changed a lot here lately, HE never changes!!!

Finally, our church choir did a song a couple of years ago, and I don't remember much of it, but here are the words that have stuck in my heart and been repeated more times lately than I could have imagined:

Trust and NEVER doubt
Jesus will surely bring you out
He's NEVER failed me yet.

Many blessings to you, and I hope others will respond with favorite verses too.

A promise for anytime!

When I had my first surgery 28 years ago, I had never been in the hospital...hardly to the dr. During the night before my surgery, the Lord gave me a "promise scripture"! I was very nervous and it calmed my fears!

Ps. 91:11--He shall give His angels over thee to keep thee in all thy ways!

After that, I went to sleep and the nurse had to wake me up to give me a sleeping pill to help me sleep! Crazy, huh?

Isn't God good???!!!

Hostess, what do you think about posting this thread
permanently at the top of the prayer board? Many sisters
will be coming here anticipating their surgery. Maybe these
scriptures will help ease their burden.

Scriptures

I'd love to see this as a permanant fixture on the prayer board. It was a great help to me. Can we do this?
Thanks
Lucy
