3 Days Post Hysterectomy - how to take care of my children?

I'm 26 years old and have 4 beautiful daughters. My husband has been great watching the kids while I had my surgery and since I've been home. But tomorrow he leaves for 7 weeks for the army and I'll be on my own taking care of our 5, 4, 3, and 1 year olds. What are some tips of things I can do that will help me take care of them while still getting the rest I need? We dont have family nearby.... and I'm moving incredibly slow. Ideas?

Would it be possible to hire a home health agency to help watch the kiddoes?

Re: 3 Days Post Hysterectomy - how to take care of my children?

You're three days out on a recovery that usually takes about six weeks. I'm guessing you still have a lifting restriction, probably about ten pounds. You've got a one-year-old child and your other children are all still pretty young.

You need help. Friends, neighbours, church group, hired help... Other military wives in your area? Anyone who can help look after the kids and give you a chance to rest.

And keep your housekeeping standards minimal. It's summer. Sandwiches on paper plates for supper will keep you and the older kids fed without excess fuss. Dust bunnies are okay.

He's going to basic? Or is he being deployed to school or another duty station? If he us already "Active Duty" there are networks you will be able to tap into for assistance. Usually through a family liaison connected to the base. If he is off to basic training, you might be able to get assistance through your local department of children's services, or a lo all church. You really need to have help.
