Leg issues post hysterectomy
I dream of what might be different for me now if my GP had sent me to the Gyn earlier, before my leg collapsed? I might be really getting along well now? Instead I'm virtually unable to do anything as I'm on crutches. I've had no ongoing help other than sheets of exercises from the physio which aren't helping at all? I feel I'm over the hysterectomy and my blood tests and everything came back great but I'm just left with this left leg that won't work fully? It's affecting my self esteem and really spoiling everything like the heavy periods and pain did. I hoped I would be living a new lease of life as lots of other sisters are on here and I'm so happy for you all. Just don't know what to do or who to ask for help with my leg? Xx

Leg issues post hysterectomy
Hi BH
If I as you I would push for referral to a specialist - it could be a trapped nerve of some sorts, but after my experience have learnt that one has to - unfortunately - push and fight for answers. It is after all your body, and only you really know what you are feeling, and what you are going through. If your current GP cant come up with some result, change GP, get second opinions.
Hope you get a resolution soon, take care

Leg issues post hysterectomy
Hi Moeksie
Thank you for replying. I'm really appreciative. I've just been up for a walk and wearing a fit bit to record my steps. I am up to doing 5000 steps a day sometimes nearly 6000 but all on crutches still. After my hysterectomy in Sept last year I made sure I walked every waking hour just so I kept the blood flowing but I only did a few steps to start with and have gradually built up to this level over the months. So now I'm doing 500 steps at a time sometimes more. I found it to be a focus and the only way I could feel like I'm progressing as I couldn't go back to work at 8 weeks because the surgeon recommended that with my added immobility I should take 12 weeks recovery and then start physio to try and strengthen my leg. I had a lot of flushes and my bp was slightly raised at the start so I drank lots of water and thought walking would help to keep on top of the surgical meno symptoms and I think it really has. I can recommend gentle walking to help with your recovery but as I say just pottering no hiking! And just gradually build up over the months. How are you managing? You are only at the start aren't you? You will be feeling tender and your incisions will be still sore? Lots of TLC and give yourself time! It really is a marathon not a sprint which in my state of being on crutches is a very slow marathon! I am starting a phased return to work on Monday just afternoons. I teach Special Needs children and looking forward to seeing them all after being at home since September. I have a GP and physio appt next week also and will be asking to see the specialist to push ahead with more tests scans etc to see what I need to be doing about my leg. I am angry that the GP I had up to my hysterectomy would not think to refer me despite me asking for over a year and he knowing I had large fibroids?! He kept telling me there couldn't be a link but didn't know what was causing my leg not to work? I have been documenting everything from the start incase I need to complain but now I have changed and I have a GP and physio who believe in me and want to search for an answer. I will be posting my progress as I'm still going through all the things that our sisters on here are going through too! Dry skin, weight gain, problems sleeping, etc etc. Not doing HRT as endo was found and removed. I just watch what I eat and do what I can for myself. You take care and take things slow!
Jo x
