Recovery

Hi I had surgery on feb 26, always had extremely bad Female problems recently diagnosed with a rare heart condition after birth of last child. I am on Coumadin which made periods even worse than they already were. I was finally stable enough for surgery. I wish I could say how great I am doing bc I wish it were true. But honestly this has kicked my butt. It has been aweful. I know it will get better. But so far oh my. The gas pain from whatever is still the worst. I take stuff daily but I guess my bowels are still pretty mad at me. Quit taking anything buy Tylenol bc other pain meds were making me bloat. This alone is like ouch. Tomorrow I get my staples out worried sick about that. 😞Just wanna feel better. Dr said give it a week to feel some better. Didnt happen maybe by week two I will have more success.

Re: Recovery

I've had a slow recovery too, due to several issues. I will be 5 wks post op on Wednesday and am FINALLY starting to feel better. Hang in there, I know it's tough right now, but it WILL get better.

Re: Recovery

Hang in there. Some of us heal slower than others... I'm sure you'll be okay soon. Give your body time to heal.
I'm 4days post op and I'm 110% miserable... But I'm trying to be okay with it. Giving yourself and your body time to heal is our #1 key.
Healing thoughts going your way.

Re: Recovery

One day at a time. Be very nice to yourself without unreasonable expectations. It is major surgery, so be patient. The pain is exhausting but your only job is to get well. Rest and feel loved because we are all cheering for you!

Re: Recovery

Sounds like you have little ones at home, too. When my kiddos were little, and I wasn't feeling great, I always felt worse because I didn't have the energy to play, read, interact like they wanted me to, or I wanted to. Let's see, tomorrow will be one week? That is about when I started to feel overwhelmed by how much recovery was still in front of me. Someone on a thread suggested try to compare each day to the first days after surgery and not to your best days - I have found that helpful. When I think back to day 1 - I didn't even get up for over 24 hrs and I slept all but a few hours - pretty much everyday is better than that day!
Hang in there, you can do this! Look at how much you have already tolerated and for how long - this is just temporary maybe a month or two - and then you'll be feeling better than ever!
