What is the back pain from?
My lower back pain has been uncomfortable for quite a while, but only since my MD mentioned that I would no longer have it after surgery, has it really bothered me.
I always have low back ache during my period, but now I'm in the middle of my cycle and the pain is real obvious. My husband pointed out that I always ask him to rub my lower back and I guess I just never noticed that it always bothered me.
Last night I slept with the heating pad all night long. I feel better this a.m., but am wondering why it hurts? I have fibroids, causing a 14 wk. size uterus and an enlarged right ovary. Most of the pain is on the right side. Could it be the ovary, or is it just the pressure of having extra 'stuff' inside, pushing other stuff around?
Any input will be appreciated. Thanks.
Nancy

Lower Back Pain
I know what you mean. My lower back kills me starting about 3 days before my period - till the end. It actually get swollen over my tailbone area. My husband says it looks like I have a little shelf over my butt!!! Wonderful....just what I need!!
My doc says is just from all the extra "stuff" going on now, and will go away after the uterus is removed!!! May 17th for me!!

the water?
Hey Bikerlady,
Since we're both from Maryland, maybe it's in the water. LOL.
Now I wish my MD hadn't mentioned it, because I am so much more aware. He started telling me how much better I would feel, and as he mentioned each symptom, I realized I had most of them all the time!

Maryland Water
Probably is in the water. I do live close to Mattawoman Creek!! My mother had her hysterectomy at 35, I will be 39 soon. So I guess it was my time. She lived in Waldorf most of her adult life. I live near LaPlata now.
My sis lives in St.Mary's - in Mechanicsville!
Feel free to email me if you want!!
Dorothy.

What is the back pain from?
I just wanted t reply to this message..as I just got done telling my husband last night that I have had NO back pain since my hysterectomy 8 weeks ago, Yeah!!
I feel mine was from the adenomyosis and the fact that I had a tilted and swollen uterus that pushed against my lower back..
that's just my take on it.
Anyway, just wanted to let you know, that my back pain is totally gone since my hyster.

yahoo!
Anna,
Thanks for the good news. Hopefully that's what we can look forward to.
I have felt like an old lady at 48, having to sit in straight back chairs and avoiding bending over because of 'my aching back.'

Hello
I had my hyst almost 7 months ago. I used to get horrible back pain to. Not anymore it is wonderful. My Dr said that it was the Uterus pushing on your back, as it was swollen. He to told me it would not be a problem anymore. He was right
Good luck with your surgery

What is the back pain from?
It is going to be great to get rid of the back pain. It sure makes everything I do not too much fun. Getting rid of the bleeding is just a bonus! I am only 40, but since I have been having this pain for the last 2 years, I have not been skiiing, and my poor DH has had to go alone. I want to go this coming winter!
Not a long wait now for me only a few days.
's for you Nancy.

I can't wait!
Thanks for the encouraging news and the hugs. I thought I would be holding my back with my hand for the rest of my life!
That makes sense, that it's the uterus against my back--since it's the size of a 14 week pregnancy. The doc reminded me of how my back hurt during pregnancies and he was right, I just accepted it with all the other aches and pains.
Now, however, knowing that I have an enlarged ovary (a little bigger than a golf ball), I am imagining the worst. As I was trying to get to sleep last night, I imagined that the ovary had ruptured and that was causing the pain, would cause all kinds of infection, etc. etc. I'm lucky I didn't have nightmares, I guess.
Guess my Memorial Day weekend this year will truely be memorable--that's when I'm having my surgery; in on Friday, out on Sunday. It seems so long from now. Reading all the posts on this site makes it a little easier to wait.
