Re: How long until completly pain free?

Without any major complications, we are about 40% healed at six weeks, 80% at six months and it takes a full year for us to get back to 100%. And to top it off, we are all different so some of us heal a tad faster than the posted timeline and others much slower so at 6 weeks, you are still at an early stage. For me, it was until 6 and half months before I could lift whatever I wanted without getting sore. Keep pampering your body and it will heal up just fine.

Re: How long until completly pain free?

I am 5 weeks post opt and thought I should not have any pain by now. Not true if you overdue. I also feel others, especially co-workesr see you back to work and look fine but don't understand what is going on inside of us. Very true on how we all heal at different rates. I pushed myself too much back to work on week 4. My doctor told me to work up to 6 hours per day and slowly work my way back to 8 hours by my 6 week point. I guess I was trying to put myself back where I was before surgery and also because I felt co-workers didn't understand if I had to go home early. This is your body and you need to llisten to what it is telling you. Be patient because you went through a lot to this point and don't want to screw something up. This is about you.

Re: How long until completly pain free?

My surgery was end of August and this month (5 months) is the first month I've felt close to my old self. December was painful and exhausting and swelling still. Can't do any long days on my feet, but getting there. Planning Disneyland in May.

Re: How long until completly pain free?

I feel pretty much normal. I'd say 90%. I only leave 10% off, because if I actually poked right where my incision was, it might be a little tender. But otherwise I can do anything. My abs feel fine. I don't get fatigued. I can do any movements no problem. I'd say really at 6 weeks felt this way. No swelly belly. No cramping. No pain when doing normal activities.
