I am curious about, from the time you had your surgery, to the time you arrived in your room, how long was it before you were in your room? TIA

Sweetiepie 61,
Was that b/c you had a difficult time during surgery? or is that a normal amount of time to be in recovery? My DH is one of the most patient men I know, but 10 hours of waiting could even drive him nuts. Thanks for your reply, take care and God bless.

sissy45........Gee, that's a good one.....I have no recollection of that one....My surgeon said "Hello there" to me in the op room before the surgery and I said "Hello sir".......A nurse held my hand REAL tight (I thought maybe we were going to arm wrestle. (just kidding)
...Then I was in the elevator, surgery was over, and 2 nurses and my younger sistertook me to my room. That's ALL I know.

It depends on alot Cindy, room availability, how you do during recovery and frankly, how busy the hospital is.The let my husband in the recoverary room with me. Don't worry about that at all just
focus on being healthy. My TAH was in 2000 they left the ovaries and just on 10/3/05 I had one removed and they had to open me again, so I am recovering all over again...Smile you WILL feel better

Sweetie Pie 61,
So sorry to hear that you are recovering all over again. I read some where that you know your over forty when... you just recover from one surgery and then you are scheduled for another, Please take care of yourself sweetiepie, you are in my prayers.

I was in recovery for two hours. I think those recovery nurses must be saints. Seriously. I remember only two things from recovery. Being desperately thirsty and complaining to the nurse assigned to me of my thirst. She told me she could only give me ice chips and spooned them in my mouth. I asked again [who knows how much later] and she did it again. I told her that wasn't relief enough, I needed WATER. She told me only ice chips and I thought...'yeah, they'll choke you to death with ice chips but let you lay there and die for a drink.' Ummm...I think I more than thought it, I think I said it aloud...hahahahaha

I hope she laughed

The only other thing I remember is her saying...Karen, it's time to go to your room now, the next thing I remember is realizing I was actually in my room.

Doc came out and talked to hubby and two hours later they had me in the room.

I was out of surgery around 9:30 and in my room somewhere around 11:00 (am), so I was in recovery around 1 1/2 to 2 hrs or so. I don't remember very much about it except a nurse telling me to use the pain pump and possible asking my Dr., as her head floated by, if she had tap danced in there.
