right arm tingling after tah

I had my tah w/ovaries removed, the last few days I have been noticing tingling in my entire right arm and sometimes my right leg. It feels like it is asleep. Have read you can experience tingling w/menopause. Is this normal?

Thanks, Marwee

Hi Marwee!

I have read that tingling in the extremities can be a symptom of menopause, but it would seem odd (to me anyway!) that you would have it on just one side of your body.

I think it would be a good idea to let your doctor know about this symptom. Peace of mind is priceless!

Let us know what you find out, okay?

Tingling Arm

I thought it was just me. My Dr said that I might have carpal tunnel syndrome. But my nurse told me that it was probably the anes. I also did the same thing when I had my epidurles with my children. So I wasn't too concerned until it lasted 3 weeks, that's when I talked to my doctor. But by week 4 it was mostly gone. I figure yours will probably go away soon. Hope you feel better soon. dncs

you could have pinched a nerve, either while under anesthesia, or just by moving your body in an awkward way during your recuperation.
While the right arm could be carpal tunnel syndrome, that does not explain the leg.
There are also some vitamin deficiencies that can cause weird nerve symptoms.
It's worth while asking your doctor, especially if it persists or gets worse, but be aware that if it is not getting worse, and isn't too troublesome, he may suggest that you just wait and watch it -- it can be expensive and painful to do a full work-up, and might not be indicated.
In the meanwhile you could ask your doctor if there is any problem with your trying a B-complex pill -- that is sometimes recommended for irritated nerves.

Good luck.

You may want to give your doctor a call this weekend or Monday. The previous posts have some good information, but another thing to consider is the possibility of clots. It's possible something went to your brain and has either caused or will cause a stroke, or just a TIA (basically a mini-stroke). Stokes effect one side of the body. If you notice any difficulty talking, swallowing, or see that your facial musles are not equal (if you smile your face is not symmetrical), go to the ER ASAP, don't even wait to call the doctor. Otherwise, make sure you mention this to your doc sometime soon just to be on the safe side.

I am experiencing the same tingling in the right arm and right leg. However, I felt it before my surgery. In a weird way I think it is all related because it started when I began to have problems. Or,I wonder if it has something to do with menopause. I am going to call the docotr on Monday because although I kept my ovaries, I am waking up with night sweats so I will tell him about the tingling in the arms. I will let you all know what he says on Monday.

Thanks to all for the information, I did worry some about a blot clot as the third week after surgery I felt a funny spot on my calf when I went to bed but it was gone the following morning. I do have an app't with my doctor this week, I will talk to him about it. Thanks again, this site has been a godsend. Marwee

I'm having the same sort of thing, mostly in one foot (toes) and my lips feel kind of tingly and numb.
I was sent for allergy tests and it turns out I was allergic to the anae. plus the latex gloves. I've used latex gloves often but they said the difference is when your internal organs come in contact with them.
Don't think any lasting damage was done but haven't seen my doctor since I got the results. Trisha
