12 days Total hysterectomy 2 ovaries & Fallopian out - pain, tiredness, constipation, hot flashes and nausea

It's been 12 days that I had my total hysterectomy both ovaries and Fallopian out. I been feeling very well first 4 days but I had a set back cause now I'm having pain, getting tied faster, contipated again and hot flashes.
My doctors told me that he doesn't recommend HRT or estrogen as I am consider high risk. I went back taking norco and it makes me more nauseated and my stool softener. I barely sleep I stay in bed and try to sleep but no luck. I am able to drive my son and walk around the house for short time. I know that I'm not supposed to drive for 2 weeks and need to rest. I want to know if anyone has same issue as mine great recovery and now set back pain in my suture and inside. I'm constipated and can't eat due to nausea.

Re: 12 days Total hysterectomy 2 ovaries & Fallopian out - pain, tiredness, constipation, hot flashes and nausea

I was in a similar situation. Mine was an open procedure, but they removed everything but my cervix. No hrt for me, either. My doc started me on low dose Paxil. It takes a few weeks to work, but does seem to be helping. I also had bad constipation. I took some laxative and boy did that hurt, but it got the job done. Get a pillow for your belly and find something (I used a small cooler) to put your feet on so that it has you on the toilet almost like a squat. They sell "squatty potties" on Amazon. This straightens your colon and you don't have to bear down. It works! As for sleep, I had to break down and call my doctor because the hot flashes were keeping me from sleeping. She prescribed ambien and it has been wonderful! So..... Post-op I took oxycodone with phenergan for pain and nausea, 10 mg Paxil, and 10 mg Ambien. I am five weeks now. Hope this helps!

Norco's just kill your bowels, my bowels always come to a complete halt on Norcos so I try not to take them two days in a row, they also keep me awake. I have insomnia and use pot as pain reliever/sleep aid no bowel problems. When the pot wears out I use Lunesta or Ambien to sleep.

For pain I was on 2400mg of Ibuprofen for 10 days after the surgery (open, took both ovaries and tubes, and momentum)

I had colace as stool softener. I forgot to mention that earlier. I got off of the narcotics after the second week and went to 800mg ibuprofen every four hours. I am just now down to 800-1600 mg ibuprofen a day.

For me nothing much dietary helps while on Norcos, but garlic, figs and walnuts keeps things moving nicely, I also like to add turmeric to whatever I eat. I actually think not eating too much while on Norocs is best since most of us get constipated.

A few years ago I broke rib and was on Norcos, had no nausea and ate as usual. I got so bloated I thought I was going to burst and actually got so scared I stopped the Norcos after 5 days and promptly had a bowel movement whew (I then took them every other day for 2 weeks and that helped my bowels along with above mentioned foods).

I hear you, I had uterus, ovaries and tubes removed as well, open surgery, on the 23rd. My doctor does have me on a HRT patch. I am in so much pain, it is impossible to get comfortable, and I can't remember what sleep was. I hope for both our sakes, things impove quickly.

Bless your heart, Susan!!! You and I had the same type of surgeryt!! No HRT allowed for me. My most comfortable position right after surgery was in my recliner laid back with a thick pillow under my knees. That really eased the pressure off of my abdomen. I did not sleep in my bed for two weeks. Keep the pain pills going and hope you feel better soon as well!
