Does A Hysterectomy Affect Your Vision?

I went to the Eye Dr. yesterday. About a month ago i won free laser eye surgery. My exam was yesterday to see if i qualified to have the surgery. Everything went fine until she seen that my nerves were much larger than most patients they see. She said this could be a sign of Glaucoma. I have an appt. today to get a scan to rule out the Glaucoma.

She asked about HRT, i told her i still have an ovary so i should be producing my own hormones. She had mentioned a hyst. could make my vision go crazy..

I was wondering if anyone might have some information or articles on hyst's. and vision.

Does A Hysterectomy Affect Your Vision?

Hi!

I'm coming up to 2 years post op, and find my vision is affected more by the eye shape changing at 40+ than my op itself. I kept my ovaries, but they're not working effectively.
I find my eyes are more drier now, and the optician recommended OTC eye drops if this became an issue. She never mentioned anything about my hyster in relation to my eyesight!

Does A Hysterectomy Affect Your Vision?

Oh yes my dear, your vision will go absolutely nuts!!!! I went to the eye doctor on Nov. 11, 2005 and had to go back Feb. 17th. Already had to have my lenses changed out. Waiting for the lenses to come in at Eye Masters. Plumb crazy with my eyes. There are some days I can see without any problems, and then again there are some days I just feel like I've got vaseline in my eyes, can't see squat. I don't think everyone experiences these kind of things since we are all individuals and have individual problems. Hopefully you won't have anything happen to you. Good luck with your eye surgery!!

Does A Hysterectomy Affect Your Vision?

Might be a good idea to wait and see what happens, like I was saying, everyone is different and are affected differently. My optometrist said that Hysterectomy does affect your vision. So did my Opthalmologist, I went to see her because I have two styes on my eyelid. She said it was due to hormonal changes. Take care.

Does A Hysterectomy Affect Your Vision?

Hi AmberBamber

My vision went a little haywire after surgery but resolved itself within a few weeks. I thought maybe it was due to the stress of surgery which can cause all sorts of short-term stuff......Also, my eyes got drier as I progressed through menopause; easily relieved with OTC drops like (((fran.k))) said.

Glaucoma, though, is one of those eye conditions that is "silent" unless you have regular check-ups with an optometrist or opthamologist, who should do a pressure check periodically on your eyeballs. If you google it, you'll discover a wealth of information on it - my mom has had it for years and it can be treated with drops.

I hope your scan goes well and you can have your treatment - let us know please.

Does A Hysterectomy Affect Your Vision?

That is so strange, I have not had any problems with my eyes, got my eyes checked awile back and they were great. Now after my surgery all of a sudden I can't read the color on the bottom of a nail polish bottle, What's up with that?
