Stitches

Hello Sisters, My surgery was March 15, 2005... (LAVA)I am doing very well. Has anybody seen any stitches? I have seen them a couple of times. Once was in May and this month, right before I start to lose them I hurt for about 3 days and I feels so bad, I get real pale and I feel like I did at the begining.. and than I start to lose stitches. has anyone else felt like this, Is this normal to do?

Wanda, I'm 7 weeks out today and saw my first stitch yesterday. Had an achy feeling all day, but today feel fine. Maybe someone else longer out than myself can chime in with some insight. Best wishes!

I'm glad I saw this post. I saw my first stitches today (7 weeks)and it scared me because I thought they were all gone by now. My surgery was a TAH though.

I'm not certain I understand when you're saying 'loosing stitches'. Does this mean that a piece of suture material has come out of your vagina? Or, for the poster that had a TAH, is a piece of suture material sticking out of your incision? Remember, some of the sutures used are 'absorbable'. Some of the suture may absorb, the rest may just fall away from tissue, and this is what you're seeing. Any questions, please don't hesitate to contact your surgeon. This is why he/she is there!

Wow! I am so glad I found this post. I'm 7wks., also, and was taking a bath, and what should be on the washcloth but a long stitch. I felt weak, and faint, but hollered for dh, to come see, of course he didn't want anything to do with that, hollered for my dd, she was like ewww gross, if your losing stitches, don't you need to go to doc. LOL! I've ached today but thought it was from riding on a tractor yesterday while farmers cut the rice field. Well, now my vagina feels funny, like a tampon string is there, keep checking but don't see anything. I go back to doc on the 4th, when I went for 6 wk. checkup he said he saw lots of stitches, that I couldn't have sex yet. And he also fished some stitches with a qtip. Anyways, thanks for the post, I think I'm normal.

Thanks Ladies, for the replies. Shoreshihtzunur, yes from the vagina, some are short pieces and some have been long, I didn't know if I should be losing them, still yet at 4 months. I just know that I feels so bad for about 3 days and than I start losing them, and I lose them for about 3 to 4 days. thanks again sister, Love Wanda

the reason it freaked me out so bad when I saw stitches was because I had just went for my 6 week checkup last week and I ASKED the doctor were all the stitches gone and he said yes!

Then, after 7 weeks of resting and almost no activity at all, I go to the beach and spend the entire day either swimming or walking (several miles over the course of the day I'm sure) then I get home and find a heavy discharge (whiteg-not blood) with stitches in it and I wasnt expecting that at all. It didnt hurt then but afterwards-all last night-I had a funny feeling (like a pressure feeling) inside my vagina like maybe I had done too much
