Bladder

I'm still having bladder problems. My surgery was Oct 13, 2009 and since then, it hurt when I empty my bladder. They did a few urine tests which all came back normal. No UTI.

About 3 weeks ago, I went to a urologist. They checked my urine and it was normal. No blood. He did an exam and said everything felt fine and that my OBGYN did a great job.

He said he can think of a few things it might be. A stitch in my bladder from the surgery (not on purpose), Interstitial Cystitis or scar tissue.

He said the worst would be cancer but there's no blood in my urine.

The pain isn't as bad as before and it all started after my hysterectomy.

I'm going back to the urologist on Wednesday. He's going to look at my bladder using a scope. I'm a nervous wreck.

Any suggestions on what it could be?

Thank you,

Bernice

Re: Bladder

Bernice, I can't help with advice, but just wanted to let you know I'm in the same boat. Had a tlh dec 15th, by week 6 was pain/ discomfort free, then comes week 11 and BAM, I got pressure/ twinges and spasms in my bladder area! I say "area" because the annoying sensations move! Sometimes I swear its my bladder, other days I can feel the discomfort in my urethra... I KNOW it's surgery related! It has to be! Before hysterectomy I have never in my life had a uti, bladder pressure, or any bladder issue for that matter. Yet my surgeon/gyno has done all the tests possibly and everything looks perfectly healed/ normal. I'm so annoyed with this! So I asked for a referal to a urologist. Have to call and schedule something tomorrow. I know the only test left to do is the scope oh and maybe the one where they test to see how your nerves are working in your pelvic area... I swear it's gotta be some weird nerve damage.... Can u please let me know how you do with the scoping? Good luck! Hope you get some answers...

Re: Bladder

I'm so glad you started this thread. I'm 3 1/2 weeks out, and the only real pain I have is when I empty my bladder. My doc did the tests, no UTI and no bladder infection. The doc gave me Vesicore to see if it helps. It hasn't completely, but it helps a little bit.

Let me know how you ladies do, and what you find out.

I just came back from the urologist. He said my bladder is perfectly normal and couldn't find anything wrong.

The scope really wasn't that bad. I really only felt it going it but even that wasn't painful.

Re: Bladder

Bernice, thanks for the update... So what's next? What is your dr saying ? If your bladder looks normal where is the pain coming from? Did he mention anything about testing you pelvic area nerves? Would IC be diagnosed by doing scoping? Glad it wasn't painful, hang in there! I had two days this week of no spasms/ twinges, got all excited , then this afternoon they ate back

He checked for IC and I don't have it. The pain isn't nearly as bad as it was. Sometimes it's not even painful at all. He said it's possible it might just stop. I wonder if I'm still healing and it will all get better.

Re: Bladder

Hi Bernice, I am glad you have brought this up as well. I come and go with the same issues. My bladder is twitchy at times and so is my urethra. It is frustrating. I go to a Pelvic Floor PT. She does a "sweep" of my bladder area and it sets me off the table. It is like nerves that are still having fits. Either that or scar tissue. She isn't sure. I had none of this before surgery. I have every test done. All is fine. I am just sick of being "aware" of my bladder at all times. Oh, I guess the only difference is I have aTVT sling. Thanks...........I hope my bladder is still getting used to it's new location

Re: Bladder

Little red, how long has it been since your surgery ? And how long have you had the " spasms"? Are they any better after you started PT? I'm very annoyed of being constantly aware of my bladder as well... I think it gets better, then it just comes back...

Re: Bladder

Hi yes I had my surgery 6 months ago. I had bad spasms until I went on Enablex. They have gotten better. I just feel as though I always feel that my bladder is sensitive. I watch my diet and drink only water.....My Pt does help. take care

Re: Bladder

Hi I had my TLH on March 16th and i find i am having the same problems with the emptying of my bladder that i see posted here. I also have it with my bowels too. Of course my mom says to have the doctor check for a UTI and bladder infection but it appears to be a common "thread" in these posts. I was prior to surgery a camel now I pee constantly. I am wondering if it has to do with the trauma of surgery.

That being said i go to the drs for a two week post op on the 29th of march. Please tell me what i should expect???

Also another question that I am hoping to get answers for I was on Lupron 6mos prior to surgery any ideas how long this drug will stay in my system these hot flashes are driving me crazy!! I do have my ovaries.

Ok one more when i walk I seem to be really pulling on my right side is this normal??

I'm sure these probably have been posted before but sitting straight up for a period of time becomes uncomfortable.

Thank you!!

Sharon
