PCOS and hysterectomy

Anyone have polycystic ovarian disease and have a hysterectomy? Were you able to lose weight after you had it done?

hi jennifer

i too have pcos....have been fighting this thing for a long time....im glad to see it finally coming to an end...

have you had any problems with depression, anxiety...etc...etc...that doctors just can't seem to figure out whats going on? the reason im asking is because i have...and i am about convinced that because of the ovaries being wacked out that all this has been hormonal....(excuse my spelling)...lol...

my weight never stays the same...up and down...down and up...seems like forever....

glad to finally talk with someone that has pcos..(people are like ...whats pcos....lol)....

hope to talk with you soon....

God Bless

PCOS and hysterectomy

I have PCOS and had a TAH/BSO over 2 years ago. That surgery has been the best thing to have happened to me. I am also taking Glucophage and have lost 25-30 pounds since surgery. (My top weight was 155 pounds.) I also have way, way less hair on my face, arms, etc. I was on Aldactone for the hair but have been off that medication since February 2001. I am not sure if it is the surgery, medication, or combination which has yielded such great results for me.

My ovaries were over 2 times normal size. My doctor gave me a slide of a photo of my uterus, tubes, and ovaries. Those ovaries were nasty looking. I am so glad they are not inside me anymore.

Hope all goes well with your surgery. By the way, have you visited the site, www.soulcysters.com? It is a wonderful support site for women with PCOS. It is much like this site.

I am having it because of that and the DUB which is dysfunctional uterin bleeding. I have had 4 d and c's done, a hysteroscopy, ovarian biopsy 2 times, lapararoscopy and a few endometrial ablations to help control it all but nothing is ever going to cure it, only surpress the symptoms for a while and I want to be cured so I asked the doc for a hysterectomy, she looked at y recoreds and said ok. She said I have had it all done to help but nothing is working so lets do it.

thats great! I am so hoping to lose the weight. Having PCOS makes it almost impossible. I went to the gym ever day for a year and working out was my life. I lost a hole 20 pounds and that was all I could get off. Now the doc tells me not to work out cause I am always in so much pain in my back and knees from the wight. I have some facial hair but dont take anything for it. Hope that goes away too.

PCOS and hysterectomy

it's so nice to hear about pcos. That is why I am haveing tah/bso. Hormones are totally screwed up!! Anxiety, depression....weight gain. Lost over 60 pounds last year....now that pcos sympotoms are stronger have gained 20 back.. I am totally freaked out!! Can't wait to have those babies out of there. I am hoping weight will be easier to control along with facial hair and loss of hair on head. I would love to talk more about pcos and hysters. Is there another thread relating to this? Is there a change hyster wont change anything? That is my biggest fear.

Thanks, melissa
