Another Surgery

I had a hysterectomy in July of 2000, not long after I turned 30 because of endometriosis. I am now almost 34 and am in the process of scheduling an ooperectomy (I am having both my ovaries removed, I am not exactly sure how that is spelled). My doctor says that she might wait to put me on estrogen until after she sees how my body handles menopause. She suggested I start now about a month and a half before my surgery taking soy, it is suppose to help elevate the symptoms of menopause. Has anyone tried soy for menopausal relief, and if so, do you think it helped? She also suggested the possibility of taking Black Cohosh. After reading up on this herb, it sounds like the possible side effects to your liver are not worth it. Has anyone used Black Cohosh before, did you have any side effects, and did it help relieve menopausal symptoms? I would appreciate any help someone out there can give me. I am trying to prepare my body as much as possible prior to the surgery, getting more sleep, loosing weight, consuming soy, etc. Any other suggestions, would be great.

Another Surgery

I had a TAH in June of last year. Was on Climara .05 but opted to try the natural route. I tried Black Cohosh and then changed to a Black Cohosh blend. I have warm flashes now. I still wake up sweaty but not soaked. I hear it has to get in my system for a few weeks to see the full effects. We'll see what happens.
