first outing since surgery...feeling horrible
So I had my LSO-BSO on June 2nd, and today was the first time I got out og the house. I went to a family BBQ and did a bit more walking then I intended to and now I feel horrible. Granted I did sit down a whole bunch once we made it to the BBQ but the walk to get to the BBQ did me in.
I didn't take any pain medication because I wanted to make sure I could feel if I was over doing it...bad idea!!! Now my entire abdomen hurts and I am very crampy. The thought of sleeping in the recliner or on the couch sounds awful but I still haven't been able to sllep comfortably in my bed.
Seriousley I was only out for a max of two hors but I guess that was just too much. I am getting cabin fever in the house but I don't think after today I feel like going out again. My house is messy and I can't do a **** thing about it. I cleaned the kitty litter two nights ago and made sure I did it in a way that didn't hurt me and it usually takes me 10 minutes and it took me a half an hour! I feel so helpless, I wish I could do more around the house.
My poor DH is working like 14 hour days to bring in the income that I. Am not able to, I feel horrible about that too!!! I was on unemployment and the week I had surgery, my benefits ended. I know I need to continue to take it easy so I can heal and then get a job, but I am going crazy just doing nothing. Sorry to vent it has been one of those days

Re: first outing since surgery...feeling horrible
you are being much too hard on yourself. you may have taken your first outing early........this will pass. make sure you take your pain meds, and wait just a little while longer. cabin fever isn't unusual.......i had it, and i had it bad. i make small trips where i was able to park closely. it does get better, just give yourself time. i had lots of work done "down there", so i had to take it slower than usual. all your friends here will keep you in our prayers.........keep us posted.

Tina try not to feel guilty for taking the time your body needs to heal properly. You have been through major surgery and it will take time to get back to every day things.

Sorry you are so tired.
Focus on resting and healing for now.
Don't rush into work, as that could be a set back for your surgery.
You are lucky that your husband has been so good.

Re: first outing since surgery...feeling horrible
I had a similar experience earlier this week. Went out for the first time last Tuesday to run a few errands and even though was only out for two hours I know I was on my feet for too long. I'm having to learn to pace myself. I can relate to that "cabin fever" feeling too. Hang in there.

Re: first outing since surgery...feeling horrible
Oh Pinkme! Big HUGS coming your way. Recovery can be such a bear sometimes. I remember my first outings and I thought I would pass out before I could get home. I would be so very tired, and sore, and I would feel like I paid for it for several days after!
It will get better, I promise. And even though its hard you have to let yourself heal. Crash in that recliner, get those feet up and rest. :-) I slept in the recliner for almost 6 weeks straight!
I have been a very slow healer and honestly there were days when I thought I would never get my life back, but i have. I am not 100% yet, but oh so much better than I was and continuing to improve every day.
Don't give up! Keep posting on the forums here, they are the best therapy, at least they were for me. I hope you feel better soon!
