Periods with NO uterus--- FRUSTRATED

Hi everyone~

I don't know if I'm in the right place, thought I'd try!

I had a partial hysterectomy a year ago in Jan. I had a rough recovery, continual bleeding that seemed to last forever.
Anyway... since the surgery I have had a period every month, like clockwork- every 25 days. It was kind of light, lasting about 4 days, but the last 2 months have been getting a little heavier and lasting longer. You can only imagine my frustration! No uterus- and still having periods!!!

My dr. insisted on leaving my cervix in place, since I have hardly any pelvic support to speak of, and she was concerned about having problems regarding that down the road.
I did have my cervix cauterized after the surgery, hoping that would take care of the cells that were left on it. No, I guess it didn't work.

I have an appt. tomorrow- since the nurse was just appalled that I am still having "periods"- she said to come in!
I guess my question here is WHAT on earth would you do? lol... I am beside myself at the moment. On one hand, I really want my cervix GONE- but I don't want the effects that could come after that either. She could cauterize it again- but is that going to really work this time?

I guess I won't really know until I go tomorrow.

Thanks!!

Sherry

Sherry
I am so sorry that you are having to deal with this and hope that they are able to give you some good "plans of action" to pick from. You might try doing a search on mini-periods here on hystersisters. I had my cervix removed so I can't help but I do know that this is a topic I have seen discussed many times on here. Sorry I couldn't really help, just wanted to wish you luck tomorrow (well I guess now its today! LOL!)

Re: Periods with NO uterus--- FRUSTRATED

If the periods really bug you that much... I would insist on getting the cervix removed. Yes it's possible you "might" have problems later, but the bottom line is where you might have issues later... you might not. You ARE having issues with the periods, here and now, so, get rid of the cervix and deal with what ever happens, if it happens later.... well later. There are excersises and things you can do, to help prevent later issues without the cervix...

Only you can decide what you want done for yourself, so trust your heart and do what you feel is best.

Re: Periods with NO uterus--- FRUSTRATED

Thanks everyone!

Well, I had my appt. There is one more thing that can be done- without removing the cervix. Electrocautery excision. ( LEEP). Sounds scary.. but worth a try at this point. She said she could send me to a specialist and see about removing it, but then I would also have to have bladder work done too. I really need it for support issues. I already have support issues as it is, my tissues are so weak, she was going to try to lift the bladder when she was in there the first time, but there wasn't much to work with. So I don't want to have prolapse issues just because I wanted it out so bad.

So... that is planned for April. I have to have another ultrasound on Monday because my right ovary is painful and enlarged.. as it always is.. sometimes I just wish I had everything taken out when I had the chance!!

Re: Periods with NO uterus--- FRUSTRATED

I do not bleed but about every 28 days I get pain in my cervix and ovaries that lasts about 5 days. Plus i have every menopause symptom on the list, most which are relieved with Biest. UHHH! When will it end ?
