Re: Reaction to steri-strips?

If it is an allergic reation, you might want to try some Benadryl cream as well.

Re: Reaction to steri-strips?

hi, my hystertomy was years ago but I wanted to post to this topic. after recent surgery I developed blisters under the edges of the steri-strips. I've removed the strips, they weren't real tight on the incision. the blisters have itched but now have calmed down. I used an "anti-biotic cream PLUS" which contains lanacane. also have a spray of lanacane. I've read on the net to use Mallox to dry up the blisters and take benydryl for the itching. I take generic claritin.

I think I can sleep now but will check this thread tomorrow. it seems after having surgery we shouldn't have to have this added problem!

Re: Reaction to steri-strips?

Hi DonnaR - how are you feeling today? I kept up with the Polysporin and fortunately it seems to be doing the trick. My blisters are drying up and looking like they will eventually come off like scabs....ironically they might be the biggest scars I have from this procedure!!

I hope your blisters are much better today, I'd be happy to hear how you're doing!

Re: Reaction to steri-strips?

thanks for asking, fire. the blisters are doing okay. though they look bad! if they itch I use the Lanacane anti-biotic spray or the anti-biotic cream plus the pain relief which is what we use for all wounds. I read (on here maybe) that Maalox will dry them up so have used that (generic) and the Silvadine cream the doctor had me get. not all that at once, of course, lol! mine are also at the ends of the steri-strips and mostly on one side so I think it may be something used to help them stick. all strips are off now. I see many posts on the net regarding this so I wonder why the stuff is used!
