Coming down the pike...

Well, I just got my pre-approval letter from the insurance company. Monday morning I have my pre-op with the doctor, and my pre-op at the hospital. I've got friends lined up to take me to the hospital, to take me home, etc. (My husband will be out of town on weekdays for at least the next 3 weeks - thank goodness for my helpful teen).

Weird thing - my dr. told me I'd only stay overnight, but the insurance letter says that I'm approved for 2 days. Are they including day of surgery and the next? Or are they pre-approving in case I need to stay two days? I'll ask my dr. on Monday, but I like to hear your experiences. :-)

Five days... getting a bit nervous. But ready to just DO IT.

Hi Jaz!

Sounds like you're getting all your 'ducks in a row' for your castle day on Thursday!

Please keep in mind that we will be there with you in spirit, holding your hand.

DRs have to give an estimate of hospital stay length, and insurance companies have their specific schedules to go by per specific surgical procedure. Ultimately, you will not be in the castle any longer than is deemed necessary per *hospital policy* and *medical standards*. Insurance companies typically go along with what ends up being medically necessary as proclaimed by your DR's documentation.

I could have gone home the evening of day 2 (I had TAH/BSO), but I ran a fever, so they kept me another day. It is my understanding that insurance companies are not known to elicit any hassle over things like that.

Best wishes to you on Thursday, sweetie! s,
