Well played, body... well played...
"Oh," my body says, "what's that...? You say you had your total abdominal hysterectomy on September 18th and you're doing great? No bleeding? No issues urinating or defecating? No real pain? Haven't even taken ibuprofen since the 25th? Only some slight soreness in the tummy?
Oh yeah?!? Well, here! Have a head cold! Sneeze multiple times in a row so your tummy muscles hurt and, yeah, let's throw in some coughing to boot!"
Gee... thanks, body. Love you, too. *sigh* ó.ò

Grab a pillow and hold on tight when the sneezing and coughing hits. At least you can laugh about it. That's a good sign! Take care!

Re: Well played, body... well played...
Thanks. I needed to hear that. I am bored out of my wits. I can't do any of my normal activities. But I need to rest so I will be in full force when I get well. I want to return to work soon but my job is highly physical. I am getting around pretty good and I plan to start walking but I am afraid of anything that will give me a "setback". My grandma has me scared to touch concrete. I am the first woman in 3 generations to have the surgery. Every small step is a victory!

Ugh. I feel for you. I had a couple of sneezing fits from allergies a few days post op. When I was done sneezing, I had tears running down my face, and all I could do was cuss quietly about the whole thing. I thought my DH was going to bust a gut laughing at me (once he was sure I was ok).

I am with you, TheLastDutchess, my recovery has gone very well and last week I felt pretty good, then, BAM, you haven't been through enough, here's a cold! Now I am lying around being pitiful because of a stupid cold instead of the surgery. I'll be so glad to get back to my new normal self!

Re: Well played, body... well played...
I know the feeling too. Right when I was getting around better a case of the hives put me back into bed for a week at 10 days post op. Now at 7 weeks (last weekend) I was feeling awesome with so much energy I get an infection that just will not go away. I think it's just the way the body tells us to slow down. Haha.
Hope you get well soon.

Re: Well played, body... well played...
Thanks, all.
Yeah, I'm using a pillow against my tummy when sneezing/coughing and that definitely helps.
I'm very lucky that this happened NOW instead of a week and a half ago. Right now, it's merely uncomfortable, but then it would have been terribly painful!

Re: Well played, body... well played...
Blagh, nasty germs! Hope they go away soon!! Sadly it's that time of year here, I've been avoiding getting close to people as really don't want a cold on top of everything else...then I picked up some sort of inner ear/sinus thing that meant every time I stood up or rolled over in bed the whole world span around - mm that was great! Just about going off now - good job women are so resilient ;-)
