First long car ride 17 days post op hysterectomy

Oh my! I am lying flat on my back with legs propped up as I type this- has any other sister had their first long car trip and felt like poo afterwards? I had an emergency appt with my Dr this past Wednesday and she assured me the trip would be ok to take. Now I am wishing I would have stayed home- back and left side cramps and too tired to really rest. Took pain meds about 15 mins ago, praying I can rest tonight and rest of time we are away from home. So scared for trip home-

If you haven't already headed back home, for the return trip, maybe try sitting on a pillow and also have something between you and the seat belt and if it is at all possible have the driver stop so that you can get out every so often and make sure to take pain meds before you start.

Re: First long car ride 17 days post op hysterectomy

Hang in there! I did a long car ride three weeks post op and I felt terrible upon arrival, experienced lots of swelling and honestly, my meds did not help. I kept my feet up and rested. When I rode back, I stopped more, stretched, kept pillows wrapped around me and felt much better returning than going.

Oh dear. I hope you are okay. I had my first long car drive just this past weekend and I spent the rest of the day in bed. My belly just felt so heavy and my back hurt. I could not have gone anywhere in my first month. Take your pain meds and once you get home, no moving for a while.
