Sports After TAH Recovery?
I will obviously be talking to my doctor about this next week at my 6-week; however, I'm dying of curiosity...
At what point, after a TAH, can we do things like golf, bowl, dance, cardio exercise (i.e. classes), biking, hiking, etc.
At my pre-op, my doctor referred to the fact that I'd be hiking and biking after my 6-week, but I'm at 5 weeks right now, and I'm lucky to be
Don't get me wrong, I'm not an exercise freak. I just enjoy these things and want to be doing them again when I have the chance. After being in the house for the majority of 6 weeks and Spring is here, I guess I'm just overly anxious to do some fun stuff (especially without having to worry about a darned period now )!!!!!!!!!!!! Since so many of these activities use your mid-section, I'm curious to see how soon we can do them after TAH.
Any feedback from our experienced ???????

Sports After TAH Recovery?
I too am wondering when I can do more than walk. I also am not a fitness freak, my DH has to drag me to the gym but I do a lot of gardening and I want to take Tai Chi classes. I don't go back for another 3 weeks for my last appointment and I would like to start more excercise now.
I feel really good but at my app. last week, my said I still had most of my stitches. So, even though I feel healed, I am not quite there.
It's not like I want to go zipplining or bull riding, but more activity.

Sports After TAH Recovery?
The correct answer to your question depends on so many factors...the bottom line is that you can do whatever doesn't hurt.
I found that walking/hiking were the easiest things to get back to because things that involved bending over hurt my vertical abdominal incision. I was walking two miles after just two weeks post op, but I don't think I would have done any other sport. Then again, it was the dead of winter, so there were not many options available at the time.
Oh, I enjoyed dancing! I'd put on a CD and do my little dancing in the privacy of my own home; that way, I could have complete control over what I did and how much of it I did. It was great exercise, and it was fun!
The best thing to do is to slowly experiment. If you were pretty fit pre-op, chances are you will more quickly be able to do the things you want to do. Good luck, and have fun!!
