Surgery Tomorrow!!

I am having surgery tomorrow tah& tubes & ovaries. I am 27 years old, so I am nervous about all of the menopause side effects since I am so young. Is anyone else out their as young as me? Or am I the only one?
If your out there give me some support!
I would apreciate anyone's support regardless of age!
My surgery is tomorrow, and I am scared to death and can not sleep! I have endometriosis is why I am having tah so young.

I'm a little older than you (36) and having surgery for different reasons, but I wanted to respond and let you know that you ARE NOT alone. I have seen some posts with women as young as you, and there are quite a few in their early 30's, so I'm sure someone will see this and be able to respond with better info. As far as I can tell, everyone has different reactions to menopause. For some it is immediate, for others it is a slow progression. I think the younger you are, the higher the level of hormones that your body produces. This means you MAY have a harder time than some of our more... mature... members. Are you going to use HRT, or is it not recommended with your endo.? I think that has a lot to do with your body's reaction as well. I'm so sorry that you are having to make such a hard decision so young.

As to your question, My doctor does not want me to use anything the first 6 months because he is afraid it could make the endometriosis come back, so maybe in about 6 months. (If I need it!)

Hi Tennessee, I am glad you asked about the menopause question. I will be 37 on Sunday and will be having surgery 3 days later, TAH/BSO for endo. I am also nervous about the menopause symptoms and my doctor also wants to wait before perscribing any HRT because of the endo.

Sending good thoughts and prayers your way for a successful surgery. I'm betting you'll do just fine. Before you know it you'll be on the other side and will feel such a relief that the waiting is finally behind you. It is a wonderful weight off your shoulders and you'll be on your way to recovery. There will also be plenty of time to catch up on this lost sleep!

The menopausal symptoms can be made more tollerable with a number of different antidepressant and anti anxiety drugs such as Wellbutrin and Paxil. This family of drugs will not encourage further growth of your endometriosis either. Keep that in mind to discuss with your doctor after, if you haven't already. Best wishes

I am 29 and actually put this off for several years. I also have endo and alot of other monsters in there that I can't wait to get rid of. You are definately not alone. I had the same concerns about menopause but with all the pain and problems I welcome it now. Good luck and I can't wait to hear from you when you get home.

BTW- Where are you at in Tennessee? I am originally from Nashville. My family is all in Greenbriar.
