Is a 3 hour drive a good idea in week 4 post op?

My Mum's offered to drive up and drive me back to stay at hers for week 4 (post op) but I'm concerned that 2-3hrs sat still in the car might not be a good idea. What do you think?

Re: Is a 3 hour drive a good idea in week 4 post op?

My surgery was 3 hours from my house, so my first long car ride was home from the hospital the next day. NOT fun! Then back for check up at 2 weeks post op. At that point, I still asked my husband to take the curves easy and try to miss potholes and bumps, but it was OK. I think you should be fine. Bring a pillow or 2 to help you position yourself comfortably. Stop to get out and stretch if you are uncomfortable. Drink water to stay hydrated. Pace yourself. I think the ride is fine but probably not 100% comfortable yet. Good luck!

Sure. If you have to Hun make some stops get out and stretch your legs. Take an extra pillow or two I took a 4 hour road trip at 4 weeks post op and I did great.

If you do good and feel like it you should be fine, I did an almost 3 hour trip at 4 weeks and I had no problems. You are not far out from surgery now you will be surprised at how much better you will feel in 4 weeks. Take a couple of breaks and stretch your legs and move around some if you need to.
