Why am I not stressed?

Surgery is in a week and I'm not stressed a bit. Not worried about surgery, anesthesia, laundry, food, nothing. I know I should be cleaning and "nesting" and acting like a squirrel in fall storing food, but I just don't have the urge.
I have made a spot in the bedroom for supplies next to the bed and loaded up my kindle and Netflix but that's about it. In my mind, I know I should be in overdrive prepping but then I think, 'Nothing will fall apart.' I have a wonderful husband to take care of me and our animals, and he's more than capable of putting a meal together or throwing a load of laundry in to wash.
Anyone else without the 'Doomsday Preppers' mentality? If stress and anxiety are normal, does that make calm abnormal? And I know we all are different and handle the same situation in millions of ways.... is my lack of huge prep going to come back to bite me?

Re: Why am I not stressed?

I wasn't stressed or worried either. Once the decision for surgery was made, I was at peace with it. My DH helped me do a little extra cleaning the week-end before but not much since it is just the two of us now. Like you, I knew my DH could handle taking care of me and anything else. Just relax and take a few extra minutes for yourself. Everything has a way of working itself out in the end.

Not everyone stresses over this - that is okay. Some women do, some don't. Don't despair about not stressing!

I did not have much time to prep, as my surgery was 10 days after being told I needed one. So, I did not have much time to prep, and just dealt with the bare necessities.

So for you, what gets done gets done, what does not does not. Your DH will be able to handle the absolute necessities. Just relax and be the

Re: Why am I not stressed?

I'm new to this forum because my ovary removal has just been changed into a whole hysterectomy. I think like you, I'm at peace with it and I have great faith in my husband. I think HE should be stressed, because like you, I have animals, and one dog will have an ACL surgery the week before me, so my hubby will have 2 patients to take care of! Good luck and blessings to you!

Re: Why am I not stressed?

I think a lot depends on how you visualize your recovery period. If you visualize yourself as sitting in your nest while your husband takes care of things, then all you have to do to make that happen is get your nest ready.

Me, I visualize my cats and me taking naps together, so I keep going out to buy more cat kibble, just in case. *grin* And then I think, oh, wait, I'll need to eat too, so I buy more oatmeal and canned goods!
